I will be in Riverside the week of June 2-6 and have two days to rent a bike and ride. I am traveling with a co-worker who will also be renting. Need some help!! Best place to rent a Harley from in the area ride to Yosemite? PCH? Big Sur? Any help would be appreciated. Jerry

Not a lot of time. But with that I would head to Santa Monica, take PCH up with stops at maybe the Rock House and/or Neptunes Net. Head up to Buellton or Solvang for the night. Next day hit the pass over and stop off at Cold Springs Tavern. Head over the Casitas Pass to the 5 and back to Riverside. Taking your time I figure thats about 6+ hours a day of riding and enjoying everything along the way. Have a great ride.

How about Blythe? Just kidding. If you do the Yosemite thing, think about heading up the 15 to the 395 and on up to Lee Vining. Then west over Tioga pass into Yosemite. You may want to think about the San Diego/Julian/Palomar area. If you want more info, PM me, i live in the area. Velobob

Hey Velobob, How that ride up 395 to yosemite? I live local and have been thinking about the trip. Do you go thru Mammoth? Is it still too early or has the roads snow gone away? I know, a lot of questions, but it looks like a great trip.

Hey Lucky Scott, 395 through the desert is sometimes windy. I've only done it on the bike once, but several times in the car. I did it (southbound from Reno) about 4 years ago. Going north, once you get above the 14 split it starts getting real nice. I spent the night in Mammoth which is a great area in the summer too. Above Mammoth, it is gorgeous. You ride right along the river through there. Yosemite is a different story. To get to Yosemite over the Tioga Pass, you have to go in the summer. They open it about May and close it about October. I believe the pass is at 11,000 feet. Try this link for current info. http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/sr120 Another option is going further north and cutting inland on the 89 over to the 88 to Hwy. 49 south. Hwy. 49 is a road I will do any chance I get. That whole loop is a gorgeous except the slab near L.A. Bob
