Default Question about digital cameras

I am looking for some input on digital cameras for shooting video. I have a Canon Pro1 which does video but my problem is it limits me to 3 minutes of video no matter how big a card I have installed. My plan is to mount it on the engine guard and I really don't want to keep reaching down to hit the record button over and over.

What brand of a camera are you using that doesn't limit your record time?

I have a Mini DV camcorder but really didn't want to mount something so big on the bike.

I really don't want to get into a big money camera since the Canon cost me $800. I am possibly looking for something used that does a decent job shooting video.

Thanks,
Dave

Your video minutes should go up the larger card that you use.

I have a Canon SD630. A 2 gig card in it will get from 20 minutes to 2 hours or so depending on the resolution size and frame rate used.

I agree that recording time is based on size of card/resolution etc not the camera itself.I am using an EBay Panasonic camcorder with mixed results but price was right as an experiment. There are 2 videos on link in my signature.

I thought a larger card would let me record longer but the programming in the Pro! limits you to 3 minutes max.

Kodak ZD710 is a great camera and has a good price too. Use a 2g card and you can get a lot of video time depending on resolution.
I also have an Oregon Scientific digital cam mounted on the handle bars. It has 6 resolution settings and with the lowest you can get over 12 hours of vid time with it. The highest gets you and little over an hour.

Default RE: Question about digital cameras

Thanks for all the feedback. When I bought the Canon Pro1 I bought it mainly for taking photos and liked the idea it could aslo do video if needed but I never thought to check the record time and just figured it would record based on the card size.

Now that I am ready to shot some video from the bike I find out I am limited to 3 minutes regardless of what size card I use. I have the JVC digital mini camcorder but hate the idea of mounting something that big on the bike. My plan is to mount it on the engine guard. Anyone have theirs mounted there? IF so how did your video come out?

Thanks,
Dave
