Ok... I received my components today.... I have to say very nice product.... being an engineer I look at all construction... Looking at these parts i have to say im impressed. There are no sharp corners... To most it doesnt matter... to me it is huge.... putting a radius in the corners reduces the stress in that area.. Very nice product... now if I can get my bike back to install it......

Well, It looks like its time to put this thread to bed and let it fade off into history.

I've really enjoyed everyone involved in this group buy. All your thanks and kind words have been so encouraging. It actually feels like a made a difference in a small way.

I especially want to thank the man behind the T.W.R. Missing Link stabilizer, Tracy. http://www.twrbaggersplus.com/

Thank you Tracy for giving us a great price. Your product and service is top notch.

Lastly, thanks to this forum and all the members who posted their results with the kit. It looks like 100% satisfaction.

Sincerely, Steve Larson (sifularson)

Now we can stop posting here and let this thread go to sleep . . .

I've been tied up and haven't had a chance to get mine on......I did however get the passenger footboard off this afternoon, so that's a start  I should have it completed tomorrow.

Hey,

Wasn't there a comparison thread of all these units out there some were?

I know I read it and even asked a question myself but can't find it.

It would be helpful in making a decision.

Got mine on.  I noticed a little more vibration in the footboards, but the bike feels more solid.  I like it.

Dawg,

Several members have PMed me about getting the exhaust out of the way so they could get to the bottom bolt on the bracket.

Can you tell us what it took to get enough room? Might help others when they do theirs.
Thanks,
Steve

I can help with this...

Just loosen the exhaust bolts @ the head (front & back), don't remove them. That gives you just enough room to slip the new bolt in place. It's easiest, if you put the bolt partially inside the replacement part, & tip it up to get it to slide in. Its a tight fit, but it works.

That didn't work for me....still couldn't get a socket on the bolt.  I had to take a whole lot more apart than that.  I had to totally remove the head bolts....had to remove the left side muffler to give the "Y" pipe room to move....even had to loosen my right side floorboard so it would flop out a little (probably because I have the Kuryakyan heel guard on) to give the header pipe room to wiggle.  Had to remove the bolt from the header clamp just behind the right floorboard and move the clamp so it wasn't on the bracket.  Then I was still barely able to wiggle the pipe enough to get a socket and torque wrench on it.  It wasn't real hard....just took some time.

hi when i have installed my kit on bikes with stock front pipes, i just loosen the 2 nuts at each head and the clamp at the transmission and remove the bolt for the bracket going to the left pipe and 2 bikes i have had to remove the y pipe going to the rear p.s i have a small headed torque wrench which fits in most times

I took out the bolt at the tranny clamp and unloosened the head flange bolts and took out the bolts under the saddlebag at the muffler and pulled it away from the bike.  I had enough room.  The secret is to use a thin head ratchet which the torque wrench is.

I got my kit today and installed it, the only time consuming thing was the mufflers, I had to take the head bolts off and push the muffler down.  I can say after going for a ride that it was worth the trouble.  The bike corners better and seems much more stable at high speeds.  Great investment.  Thanks!!

Well Thanks Tracy and Steve,

I'm a new member that got in on the group buy.  The unit looks great, I've got
the stock exhaust system with Tourning mufflers.  We'll I started by removing all
the mounts and totally removing the head nuts on the exhaust.  Had enough room
to take the old unit out and install the new one, but could not get a socket in
on the lower bolt no matter what I did.  I had a pair of exhaust gaskets and decided
I was going to take it all apart, well about half way though fighting the exhaust I
noticed that I could sneak a socket on and finish the install.  Got her tourqued and
had just enough room to slip in the new gaskets.

Taking the whole system down and putting her back it looks and fits better than
it did before.  I wanted to remount the system by the book.   Now to finish all the
other maintenance so we can take her for a ride next week.  Thanks guys.

Thumoer and Buttercup,

Welcome to the forum. I see that your first post was to me and Tracy. I'm honored.

Glad to hear that your install went well and you got to know your bike better. I enjoy all that and it sounds like you did too. Gives you a sense of accomplishment and ownership, right?

I know you'll feel the difference when you get a chance to ride it.

Hope to hear more from you on this forum. It's a lot of run to share ideas and experiences with fellow riders.

Steve

Got mine! Install went very well. My bike is '06 road glide with v&h true dual headers, had to remove exhaust bolts from muffler bracket(kept muffler attached to headpipe)took clamp loose at the tranny and loosened both nuts at the head. This allowed enough room to get the socket on the bottom bolt. This was the MOST difficult part of the install.Being somewhat of a wrenchead this all seemed very easy to me.I jacked mine to the top of the jack just to make access a little easier(could be done without a jack). Now the results,WOW! In short it WORKS! This cured my handling issues 100%,like many others have said, its like its on rails. I could immediatly tell a difference just turning onto the first road at low speed, and now my scoot tracks straight over road joints and hangs into long sweepers like a bike should without any rear-steer.Big thanx to Steve for starting this thread and to Tracy for the reduced price and a top quality product!Good communication too!BTW Steve I have one of those Klockwerks 12" flare w/shields and just love it.

hi thanks jwade420 glad you like my kit and welcome to hd forums site , please anyone doing the install of my kit, use a bike lift to take the weight off the rear , so you do not stress the rear swingarm, axle and transmission because all the bikes weight is on them and they are only held on one side, this is why the piece on wood is installed at the crossmember before you remove the frame bracket, when you lift the bike up the swingarm, axle and transmission rest on the wood and will not move or stress these parts, plus because the weight is off the rear and makes the frame bracket much easier to install and the oil pan bracket too thanks

p.s anyone wanting a kit, i will be gone fri. may 16 to sun 18 racing, first race of the year wish us luck thanks
