The 84 FLH is coming along nicely. My latest dilema is fitting the new custom wheels. My stock front spacers aren't even close so I got a local INDY to let me take his selection of spacers home for the weekend. I have figured a combination that fits snuggly between the lower legs. My questions is this. How close to center between the legs do I need to be? The best I can come up with is for the wheel to be offset about 1/8 or so to one side. Is this acceptable or do I need to find more spacers sizes?

Almost forgot. The rear wheel went in fairly easily althogh not sure how to measure that one for center.

Hey man good to see you are working on a shovel. If the tins are off the bike the rear wheel is not that hard. Take a string and run it along your back bone. from the neck down. center it on the top dead center of the back bone. Then measure your tire width, i just use a slip of paper and mark from the one side of the rim to the other.. Fold this paper in half that will be your center mark. then mark this on your tire with a piece of tire chalk or sharpie what ever works. In about 5 places so when you spin it you can get an idea for center. Line your string up that came off your back bone hang it over the entire tire and move it ( the tire left or right til you are center) then measure for your spacers and sprocket offset/ disk to caliper offset. and you are good to go. This isnt hard on a stock bike. for the front I use the center of the neck stem bolt to measure from. then space and set up brake. Its alot easier than it sounds. Thanks for the reply. I do understand what you said and will check it tonight. Part of my question was this. Using premade spacers there is no way that I am going to get the wheels on absolute center. How much off can they be and still be acceptable?

someone correct me if i am wrong but the wheel has to be inline with the caliper and brake rotor so when the brakes are applied you dont pull or push the rotor one way or the other
