I got lucky yesterday and hit the last light before home with nobody infront of me. I hit it right at the yellow. Oh well. It's a long light. There was a sport bike right behind me as I stopeed and I waved him on up. He flipped up the visor on his modular and pulled up next me to with big grin and the throttle a couple of times. Then he looked again and said "Oh crap! Is that a V-rod?" I said "Yes, it's a contradiction in terms; fast Harley." He laughed and asked that I forget about his challenge saying "One of my riding buds said he tried to launch with a V-rod and went over backwards." All I could say was "Yep, seen it happen. V-rods don't lift and it fakes you guys out." His answer was "Yah, that's what my bud said. He's never seen launch that hard with out comming off the ground. Show me how fast you hit 60!" So I did. As I made the turn to my house he went on by giving me a double thumbs-up.
Those sport bikes are really stable hands-off. Didn't see him today, but it's not the first time we've been on the same stretch of pavement, just the first time we've been there at the same time.

I saw the kid on my way to work this morning. He pulled up beside me, with my wave up, slapped me on the back and said "That was cool!" We pulled off in a parking lot and I gave him my card and told him to call me. When he did we talked for for a while. I guess he's not really a "kid" at 26. He's been riding a long time. Like me, he started on dirt bikes. We're going to try to get together for some local riding. His wife doesn't like to ride more than about 100 miles.
I generally seem to get along well with most other bikers. Maybe because I like all bikes. Can't leave my hot-rod friends out either. I have a 305, now I just need a ragged S-10 I can turn into a T-bucket flatbed...

I have had some say it is the best Harley they have seen and others say ot is not a harley and not a sport bike. Today I rode with a Korean babe on her gixer 1000 she said she never liked Harleys before today. She still lost me on the twisty bits though.
Hell she could ride.

When I'm riding alone I don't have much problem keeping the big sport bikes in sight. They aren't surprised any more. The experienced riders on the little 600 and 700 class bikes do a vanishing act. A friend in Phoenix with a 'Busa, who happens to be an excellent rider, says he won't even try to stay with an experienced rider on a newer 600 in the twisties. I've also had squids wipe out trying to follow my line when I'm on the old Yamaha thumper. Just a matter of knowing what your bike can do.

Sport bikers seem to be attracted to the V-rods. HD's master plan at work?
Seems funny to me only because we bought the Night Rod to be a two-up cruiser. Last December we won "Best Sport Bike" at a Toy-for-Tots show. I'm guessing this is the first time a bike with a 20" sissy bar, not to mention a Harley, has ever even been considered in a Sport Bike category. Yes, there were real sport bikes there! (Much to their chagrin.)
