FLHX Passenger Footboard Kit Problem - 4/24/2008 1:05:56 PM

Purchased the HD Streamliner Passenger Footboard Kit so my wife would have more comfortable boards that match mine vs. footpegs. Installation was sailing right along until the instructions said: "Firmly press footboard pad into footboard bottom until it pops into place." I've tried everything I can think of and there ain't no "poppin" goin' on! They just will not seat all the way down onto the bottoms. Anyone else have this problem? Any good tricks or solutions I should try? Thanks.

I hear that !!!! The directions call for soapy water. It works. I had to kneel on the darn thing to get it to seat.
You are now good to go!!!!!!!

Man, I must have read those darn things a dozen times and I don't recall the soapy water thing. That or I just thought it was a Harley inside joke and skipped right over it! I'll try it after dinner and see how it goes. Oh - sounds like steady pressure (kneeling) will be better than sudden impact (rubber mallet) right?

I used a little silicone spray to get mine on right. Make sure they are on good or they will pop off.
The wife loves them on our FLHX

It mentions it on one of the 3 sets of directions.
