My brother has one. Shoots realy sweet, and dead on. If the price is right I'd pick one up myself

I saw one of them on the movie, Sniper. I wouldn't mind shooting one myself. The ammo is reasonable and you should have plenty of fun shooting it.

I am guessing that you are looking at getting one of the current Romanian Dragunov copies right? They are neat toys to play with and the ammo is cheap.

A "real" SVD that was imported into theUS would run you at least 3K for a Norinco. But this is the only way to get a true copy, the Romanian ones are built on modified AK recievers and have no gap between the trigger and the magazine, the true ones have a gap and while the recievers look like an AK, they are specific to the SVD.

There is a real nice Tiger clone for saleon gunbroker.

Probably not a big deal, just sayin'.

FYI, the Romanian "Dragunov" also has its gas piston integral with the bolt carrier, same way most Kalashnikov-style rifles do. The true SVD Dragunov has a spring-loaded gas piston which is separate from the bolt carrier; a lot like the SKS (and FN49) rifles do. Minor differences, but may make a difference in accuracy. Can't really go wrong with either, depending ultimately on your purpose. Either is rare enough that they should be worth their price, IMO. Nice toys.
