I just got my first HD,04 VCRSA 280 miles,I would like some advice on what seats are available. I am looking for something with support for a passenger, perhaps a sundowner? Any imput would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Daryl

Don't mess around, just get a Sundowner. As for sissy bar, the HD bar is OK if you plan on using the luggage rack. If not, youmay find a kuryaken on e-bay. The problem with the HD bar is it is to far forward and the backrest pad takes up a couple of inches of the passenger seat. Our was custom made by Ginz Custom Choppers, www.ginzchoppers.com (http://www.ginzchoppers.com). We went back 2" and up 6" on the pad using his "Hellbent" style. It gives us a great place for bags and my wife loves it.

Your other option is the Touring PassengerPillow if the feel of the rider portion is okay for you. The Sundowner is a little wide, not a good seat for permanent use IMO (I do own both mentionedabove, each for their own purpose)

For regular cross-hatch pattern:

We went through a few options. It was a motorcycle seat maker that convinced us to get a Sundowner after my wife described what whe wanted. Turned out he had a V-rod with a Sundowner.

How tall are you? I had a Sundowner on my bike and hated the way it moved me forward. I now have a Tallboy and I love it, it moves you up and back a little bit and I think it just as comfortable on long rides as the Sundowner was.

I have a Sundowner on my 05 'A' Model . Very comfy. Wife likes it very well also.

You can't go wrong with the Sundowner. I changed out my stock seats a month after I purchased my bike.

I'm 6'2". Since I have a D, mid controls, I don't have a problem with the position. It actually made it a bit better. The seat puts a little more over the controls and just a hair better balance in the twisties. When using the highway pegs I now hang my feet over the pegs and relax.
I was perfectly happy with the stock D riderseat. My wife didn't like the touring pillion (forget the stock "passenger seat"). We haven't tried the D seats since we put the new sissy bar on. I suspect the sissy bar had more to do with her comfort than the seats. She liked the Sundowner a little more than the D touring, but not much. With the bar we have now she can ride all day...like we did today.
