Default wrap-around oil tank with spin-on filter?

57 Pan
Any experience with a wrap-around oil tank with spin-on filter? Similar to the Paugho 748f http://www.paughco.com/2003_catalog/page101.htm
I installed one along with a complete rebuild. Now the oil pukes after shutting the motor off and drains the tank completely dry after sitting a few days. I figure it's either siphoning the oil tank somehow or bad oil pump check valve seat.
Never had a problem with stock wrap around tank and no filter.
Any thoughts?

Hawk you're right but I believe that is to allow oil passage/bypass should the filter become clogged. It sounds like the oil pump check valve or incorrect plumbing or a venting issue.

Sounds like John has it. Look at the check valve ball and seat in the pump.
