Hello all, I have a 71 shovel kicker sitting in a rigid. I recently went on a long ride 3 hours lol to find when I got back, I had a nice puddle of tranny fluid under her. So I spent the next day under her on the jack and she didn't leak a drop. Put her back on her kickstand and we puddle up again. Now i guess i could just park her on the stand every time and no leak, however thats probably not a good idea. SOO I have heard threw the grape vine that the 4th gear seal is famous on these trannys for taking a shit. Not going to be able to pull that off in my garage. Anything I might be able to check without getting to deep. trannys ain't my thing    thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news man, but it sounds like you're headed to a shop for the repair of that leak if you don't want to do it yourself. In the long run, it'll be well worth it to get it fixed right the first time. You can do yourself a favor if you can remove/install the tranny yourself. Brace yourself for a hefty bill if it needs more than seal replacement. I hope you have a good indy shop in your area. Good luck.

Welcome to the HDForum superhoos,
magawatts right! If you can't do the job yourself its time to get the trans looked at and sealed up.
A couple things you could check,
one- is the transmission over filled with oil?
two- could the vent screw {the one with the small hole drilled in it} which is one that fastens the lid to the trans case be plugged or in the wrong hole not allowing the case to vent?
three- check the small seal which is in the nut which fastens the clutch hub to the main shaft. {not to likely}.
good luck and keep us posted on what you find.

If it is 4th gear seal and you don't run an inner primary get a part called the "duo-sealsuper nut" V-twin P/N 17-1490 gravy to install  Also check the main seal another gravy job!! Good luck James also makes that super nut
