Default Mouse

New to photoshop and have been playing around with 7.0 the last few days.

My question is that I am using a logitech trackman optical mouse and it seems very hard to keep a pretty straight line. Even taking my time an enlarging the photo it does not feel real smooth and it shows on the screen.

Would using a different mouse be better or does it make a difference?

If so what mouse would be recommended?

Thanks in Advance

Which photoshop tool are you using when you have this problem?

The brush or highlighter, almost anything to that nature, it is like it jumps or skips while using the rollerball on the mouse. Did not know if it was the mouse or just natural. When rolling the ball it feels smooth for everyday use, but something this precise it does not feel smooth creating ziz zagged lines.

Is there a better mouse to use with photoshop?

a trackball is not ideal for ps'ing you'd be better off with a regular optical mouse.

Hi Kobra,

With many Photoshop tools (such as the brush tool), if you press-and-hold the SHIFT key (on your keyboard) while you are drawing a line, Photoshop will assist you in making the line perfectly straight. Of course this only works if you are trying to make a horizontal or vertical line. If you are drawing diagonally or on a curve, then this tip won't be useful to you.

I'd ditch the trackball if I were you, but even if you get a top-of-the-line mouse, it can still be tricky to draw free-hand lines. Many graphic artists use a drawing tablet, for a more natural drawing motion, although those tablets can be quite pricey.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention that SHIFT key tip, in case you can make use of that.
