I'm getting ready to trade in my bike, and thought it would be useful as a negotiation tactic to know what kind of deal other people are getting.

List the details of the deal you made buying your new bike.
Include, dealership, trade in info, interest rate, how good your credit is, money down, extras financed length of loan and monthly payment.

What? this post has been up all day and not one reply?
Are you all too embarrassed to say how much you paid for your ride?

OK, I'll start
Bought my 1200R new 8/04 at H-D of Charlotte
Paid $8200.00
Put $1000.00 down and got 8% interest
I have good credit score of 760
I did not finance anything else, no extras.
Monthly payment of $202.65

Cash but don't tell them till you get the deal done. the only way to buy a bike is save and buy cash in my book same way with cars then make payments to your self each month for your next one.

The best option is almost always to save your money and pay cash!

I bought a '08 FXD when they first hit the showrooms (7/07) -- paid cash.  Really loved that bike, had done a little bit of "personalization" and planned on more. Unfortunately, I T-boned a cage a few weeks ago, bike was totalled but I walked away (thanks to the right gear and amazing luck!).  The cage driver was at fault, and his insurance company didn't try too hard to screw me, so I got a decent property settlement check.

Prior to the crash, I was already lusting after a '05 FLSTN Softail Deluxe owned by a neighbor.  The bike has a few options (S-E pipes, crash bar, 5 yr ESP, etc.), and is near-mint condition, always garaged, only ~4,000 miles.  He had been talking for some time about maybe selling, never seemed to ride anywhere, financials were clearly stressed.  Shortly after my crash, I asked if he was serious about selling -- he said he'd be happy to hand the bike over "for the loan payoff" and would include several pieces of luggage and assorted other accessories.  He'd purchased the bike new with just a tradein for down payment (~3K) and financed with H-D for 7 years at 12.25%(!)

That's a good example of how not to buy a bike...

Anyway, I bought the bike for the loan payoff, cash transaction.

Uh, yeah I know the best deal would be cash, kind of a no-brainer there.

But, since I don't have $15k lying around........

What I'm really after here is what interest rates people with good credit are getting now on 2008 bikes.

Here's a view from the other side of the fence.

2004 Road King Police
Gator Harley-Davidson - Leesburg, FL
No trade
$1050 down
Bike price - $10,000 before down payment
Crappy credit (580-600)
17% interest, $250/month @ 72 months
Financed through Eaglemark Savings Bank
No extras

I basically fell into this deal. Been looking for a new bike. A friend of mine from the local parts store told me about a friend of his who is a salesman from Gator. They worked for 3 weeks to find me a bike for the price I needed, and worked out the financing. It's not my dream bike (I wanted a Ultra Classic), but it's better than my 86 Honda.

The key here, is to have excellent credit, it saves you a ton of $$. I only financed $7600.00 and was going to get Credit union financing for 7.5%, HD had 7.99%, then the stealer caught wind of my credit rating and offered me 5.9% cause they want more $$ out of the deal. I went with HD. 178.00 a month.

08 Street Glide
$19,300+TTL, prep fees, etc =$23,100ish
Trade in got me $700 over payoff
Down payment of $3000
9.5% interest (credit around 610ish) for 7 years (tip: dealer started at 11.5%, argue them down)
$326/month payment
 \\;
As long as it treats me right, I plan on keeping this bike for a long time anyway and \\;will pay it off early, so no biggie on the length.
