180 degrees min.I believe up to 220 degrees Any lower and you are running cold. Cold oil is not good.

I will always recomend Amsoil 20-50w My personal opinion is that the mobil 15-50w is a little thin, but then I live in Florida. If you are running with a oil cooler you will surley find that your oil is running way too cold. Synthetic oil will make your oil cooler.

Evos do not want a oil cooler. I hope I covered all the bases for you.

Easy Killer, trying to help folks out is what it's all about.

We never now about peoples opinions except that it is an opinion on what the question is.

I will say that instead of posting, I should have done a search because what 89 is saying was correct according toother posts going back to 2006. 180 to 220 was it.

$hit like that pisses folks off.

Cowkiller, does it bother you when someone is right and knows the answer to a question? Or does it bother you when someone tries to help out another rider?

Which is it ???

I have 35 years of HD riding experience, I guess that you have a problem with that too.

I will not disrespect you this time with a opinion of you, as you disrespected me.

I don't know whats going on here.

But I'm gonna post a reply to Phat based on my expierence.
Phat, I ride a fat boy using red line syn 20W50 I also have a temp gauge dipstick. Based on this information I can tell you My temp has not been above 200 F mostly runs around 195F. Maybe in the heat of aug hammering it on the interstate 210-220

Hope it helps.

My evo with the ev27 reminds me of the older slant six engines made by Mopar back in the 70's, they always seemed to make a lot of valve noise too, but they would run forever with little care.

Phat this is my second evo engine with the EV27 cam installed I too have a lot of ticking and valve train noise. I tried amsoil last oil change and I think the redline 20-50I used to run in my 91 helped quiet things down a little more. I am going back to it next oil change if I can find it.

As far as my opinion of 89fxrs goes we seem to be communicating through pms.
the man does have an opinion ON EVERYTHING. I am all for helping other riders and all for answering and asking questions.
I get irritated when a guy thinks his opinion is more important than others. Some people can learn more in 3 months than others can learn in 35 years making the 3 month guy's opinion just as or more valublethan some guy who thinks he knows it all. This side show was about ALL the evothreads not this one It just landed here.
thats all

Cow has a problem with me answering a few threads, not for being wrong.

It seems that The Cow has a problem with someone that knows what they are talking about. To think that someone with 3 monthes experience is just as knowledgeable as some one with 35 years experience is just a plain stupid cow..

Cow if I am wrong on any point, then and only then do you have a right to call me on it.
But to get mad because I am right is just being stupid. If you look at my previous post you will see me say I am not sure or it is my opinion if I do not know the full answer or it is my opinion.

The Amsoil has a better lubricating quality than petroleum oil, if that does not work to your satisfaction you might want to try a straight 50w. I ran 50w to 60win both my Shovel and Pan although I never did in my Evo as the Evo is a completly differant motor. Before you go to a straight 50w check out the pros and cons. It just might work??

Cow killer and 89fxrs, you guys are killing me. Your both right and your both knowledgeable with Evo's and that's what I want help with. I thank you for your replies and I thank you both for being here to share your information.
I'm sure when I have another question I'll be able to count on you guys to give me the answer I'm looking for and I'll look for the Amsoil Syn 20-50w this weekend.
Enjoy the weekend and the ride.
