I have a chance to acquire a red 1984 FLH dresser in totally factory-original condition with 22,000 miles on it. $10 - 12K. I would be third owner. Never dropped. All records. One tiny rock chip in front fender, otherwise perfect. New battery, rubber, brakes, new S&S Super E is the only non-stock part on the bike (the orig carb and all parts & hardware that were removed go with the bike) & newly installed swingarm bearings. All Harley parts. Meticulously maintained - 3000 mi. or 12 mo. oil changes etc. Fresh fork oil installed. No engine oil consumption. Tranny seal leaks a little (I can do the seals, I've done them on every shovel I've ever owned). Need all opinions ASAP. Many thanks in advance, John

The value of shovels around my area are pretty low now. thats a big price tag but if its what your looking for and you have the funds go for it. 1984 Harley-Davidson FLH Electra Glide Value quote:
May 1, 2008 2-Cylinder 4-Stroke 1340cc Suggested Retail Value $6800 The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the unit's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. this would be more in line of a good price IMO

Depending what area of the country your in, the price isn't out of line... But it's not a real super deal either. You can go online to Craiglist or E-bay to get an idea of prices, but you really never know what kind of crap people are trying to unload, or the history behind them. If you really like the bike, it's that clean, and you plan on keeping it for a while, I don't think you can go wrong. Just my two cents.

I just bought a 83 FLHT with 22K original miles in pristine shape for 8 grand including a bunch of original parts and such, trunk, etc.....I thought is was a good deal. Remamber, a good deal is all a state of mind. If you love it and it's truly not a piece of garbage (someone else's headache), then hell, go for it. I can only speak for myself when I say I've owned ten Harley's ... all Evo's, Rev Tech's, and Twin Cam's...I dreamed of my beloved Shovel some day....now I have it. May be I got a great deal, maybe it was a ripoff...all I know is I love it and she's everything all the new sh** is cracked up to be .... and more!! Good luck.

Do you have another bike or would this be your one-and-only? Even though nice shovels are getting scarcer all the time I think the price sounds pretty high for the current market. If it were me I'd rather spend the 12K on a used twin cam bagger and ride the trouble-free piss out of it, but that probably just reflects where I am at this stage of my riding career... (spoken like a man who hasn't ridden his shovel in 2 years. I better go put a plate on it and remind myself what a fun bike it is before I get excommunicated from the shovel section... ;-) Still, if you have the dough and gotta have it, what the hell? It's only money and we want to see the pics anyway...!

I was thinking the same EXACT thing, I bought my 02 Deuce last year for 11,500 and absolutely was the best money I have spent in a very long time.

I don't know where you are located. I saw one near Pittsburgh PA last year. It was the original owner. Maintaned by a dealer. It was 10 or 12 and I don't think he sold it. The real kicker it was a 1980 2,000 miles, still had the original tires. If you want the ad let me know. I probably still have it somewhere on this computer. If not I think panz4ever, also looked at it, and might have the info. 1980 or 1984 10 to 12 is too high in my area. I looked at your old posts. I also looked at new in 07 and was discouraged by the problems. I did buy an 08 If you want an opinion and how I compare it with a shovel let me know. Good luck i hope you find what you are looking for.
