Ride on,to me that's one freedom we have owning Harley's,and everyone know's what I mean love it. Owning a handgun is another, but over the year's the gun show's we have in Louisiana, have gotten so high priced, all the "deals" are long gone. I have a concel carry permit, and I am looking for a good carry piece.I have a Colt model 1991 45acp(sweet),would love to have a officer's model, for a carry, but shopping for the best i can do on it.I am thinking real hard bout getting my FFL,to obtain not only this gun,but to help other's get good deals on gun's too. What is the best way to go bout getting my FFL.have seen alot of site's about it,would like some good advice from people I allready share something with.

You are 20 years or more too late. The days of kitchen-table gun dealers are over.  I've had an FFL twice, once in the mid 80's and again around 94-5.  The laws and costs changed a lot in that time.  It used to be you gave them $30 and a fingerprint card and they pretty well left you alone for three years.  They didn't care if you sold out of your house, didn't advertise, and were only open after dinner on every other Thursday.  Now it's $200, and your not-so-friendly not-so-local ATF Field Inspector WILL come by to check your records whenever he pleases - open or not!  The last one I talked to arrived at my door unannounced from his office 100 miles away on a Friday at 9:30 AM, even though my business hours were listed as 7-10 PM Tues-Thurs.  I was leaving for my day job and didn't have time to entertain him, so I told him to come back during business hours or make an appointment.  Shortly thereafter, it became apparant that they were making a concerted effort to drive out "hobby" gun dealers.  I ordered all the guns I wanted for myself, registered them all to myself, and mailed my forms and license in with SURRENDER written across it.

BTW, margin on guns is pretty slim - usually 20% or less.  Shipping is a hassle, especially if you aren't there to sign 24/7.  If you don't spread the word, you don't sell enough to break even - and if you DO spread the word, you WILL get burglarized.  A local retired guy was a FFL holder, selling from home, and he was blessed with four armed home invaders. If your homeowners insurer finds out, they'll jack your rates or drop you.  For me, it just wasn't worth it.

Go to http://www.gunsamerica.com/ and use the locater to find an FFL in your area.  Check with them - many will order you a gun for cost+%5 or cost+$20, plus all the registration fees, which you have to pay anyway.

If you insist on getting on the ATF's radar, try http://www.federalfirearmsguide.com/ for a possibly helpful kit, or call ATF direct.

I agree, I had a FFL late '80s early '90s. It was great back then. I wouldn't do it now. There are a lot of gun auction sites on the net, you can do ok on them if you know what your looking for.
