Default removing stock muffler baffles

The wife wasn't happy with the samson rolling thunder mufflers on our ultra classic so going to put the stockers back onand remove some of the baffling....what I need to know is how to do it...drill out...punch out..and how many baffles are there to deal with?? thanks

I can speak about my 89 FXRS. A freind of mine cut out the welds and pulled out his whole baffle and it sounded like crap. I took a piece of rebar and punched it through and I like the sound.

how many baffles did you punch thru? should I be looking for carb re-jetting for a leaner or richer mix?

I don't remember how many tabs I went through, one or two, all that the rebar did was bend the tabs back and open a clear passage through.

I also don't remember if it was leaner or richer after the tabs were bent. I think richer.

I had punched out stock mufflers on my 89 for some time; louder than stock but not overly loud. Just punch through until you can see straight through.
