New Smyrnabeach... just above Daytona and just as nice... you can drive on em. Less folks...

If ya like golf World Golf Village really nice and used to be for 5 bucks you can hit to a replica of the famous 17th Island green at TPC Sawgrass. Has three wonderful courses and such as well as the PGA museum is now there I think also...

New Smyrna Beach is 20 miles south of Daytona Beach. It is a great place with nice beaches and great places to eat. Depends what you are looking to do and how long you plan on staying.

if you are near st. augustine you should go a1a, from downtown st. aug. thru flagler down to daytona. there are plenty of good bars and restaurants in st. aug.; a1a alehouse, harry's, scarlent o'hara's. as you go south from downtown you pass conch house, jack's, saltwater cowboy's, the oasis, and south beach grill. if you keep going to flagler the golden lion just before town is great and the rooftop deck has a terific view. about twice a week i do the loop from st. aug to daytona, down a1a, cruise around daytona for awhile and then come back on 1a. a little over 100 miles and a surefire way to relax in the evening. the weather is perfect right now. have a great, safe trip.

Going down to St.Augustine on the 14th of July,Going to take one of my grandchildren down with the wife.I'll haul my bike down in a closed trailer because the family going together andI can ride each day while the women folk lay in the sun,
I like the layed back enviorment at St.Augustine,I'm 58 and don't drink but I like the old buildings and the Fort and there is not a lot of wild teenagers,To me I am suited to the quieter life,( Did enough of the wild life years ago,Don't need that anymore.)
I used to go down 2-3 times a year but don't make it down that often now.Love that area though, just a short distance to a lot of things.
Stay at a place called LaFiesta on A1 just across the bridge andout of town about a milebut Seams like there is a Best Western just up the road,They cater to Bikers.Hope to see some down there.Ride safe.

Thanks for the info. I was already looking into the St. Augustine area. I'm only 41 but since I've got my bike I've been looking for the out of the way places myself. Rather enjoy the open scenery then being caught up on the wilder side. By the way, just got back from the Texas foothills around the Kerrville area, awesome riding if your looking for open country and great roads with a little challenge. Thanks again for the info. Ray
