I have not had a chance to shoot one of the M&P's yet, but a friend of mine wants to sell me his....it is in good shape and he will take $400 for it...not sure what they go for new and have not had a chance to check them out. Any input would be appreciated. thanks in advance, scott

I bought an M&P a couple of weeks ago and brought it home and put it in the safe and haven't even shot it yet. I like the way it feels and the way it slips in my belt. I really went to the shop to buy a Kel-Tec 9MM and bought the Smith instead. Then, I went back the next day and bought the Kel-Tec. I took it out and shot it and it has been in my pocket ever since. The Smith is a little bigger and doesn't conceal as well as the Kel. When it gets cold again, I will take the Smith out and shoot it and put it in my belt. I like the way it disassembles and is built and it is obviously a better quality gun than the Kel-Tec. I am not much help, but for $400, the Smith is a buy. I think my new one was pretty close to $500. It comes in a nice case and all that. Good luck.

My question......why is your friend selling the m&p40????

He has been trying to get into a career in law enforcement for some time, and apparently has been accepted or hired or whatever it is to go to the police academy through his local pd. He wants to get and start shooting whatever they carry...sig maybe?..not sure. Anyway, he does not have the money to keep the M&P and purchase the other. What's the difference?..I sold my sw99 to my brother in law who loves the gun...I personally hated it, but there was nothing mechanically wrong with it...and as far as me not having time to look up info on the gun, which I have done thank you, I was looking for some input from other than manufacturers and magazines that are given all kinds of goodies and what not that could possibly sway their opinion. I thought that is what these forums are all about. Sorry if I misunderstood...[:@]

thanks shovel...sounds like me...go to buy a specific gun...come home with another...end up buying both in the end....I have held his gun and also like the feel of it. Also he has four magazines with it in addition to the case and backstrap pieces and whatever else it came with. Sounds like a deal, I guess I will buy it. Sorry if I was a little snappy on my first reply, I just thought the forums are here to help each other, and I do whenever I can. thanks again, scott

actually I thought "silvergoldsmith" was kinda of being rude, because you are absolutley right this is what this forum is for! to ask questions. if you don't have any positive input STFU.

I thought that there may have been a problem with the aformentioned firearm, thus the reason for selling it.

Check out www.smithandwessonforums.com (http://www.smithandwessonforums.com)

They have some good guys there.

I just bought a new S&W Sigma 9mm and really like it. Although I've heard bad things about the early ones, so far mine is doing fine. I've only run about 100 rounds thru it.

The s&w forum guys seem to really like the m&p.

Thanks for the link...I will definately add it to my favorites. And Ord Sgt, I know what ya meant, as I said I didn't mean to fly off the handle. You made a great point in your question...I had a hair across my ass after reading silvergoldsmiths reply and definately had no right or intention to be a jerk to you. I am usually very mellow...lol must have had a longer day than I thought I did..ok..done apologizing, hope I can still show face in here...lol....lot's of great input in every bit of this forum that I have explored and I value all the opinions greatly. scott

I have the M&P 40C, and love it so far....I've only had it for 3 weeks. It came with 2 mags- one with a flat bottom, and one with an extension (pinkey extension). I prefer the mag with the extension, but overall, I've been very happy with the gun so far.
