Hi, just bought a 2003 V-rod with 4000 miles on it. This is my first Harley, I have always and still do own sport bikes. I wil post some pics hopefully later. The guy I bought it from did a beautiful paint job on it, new exhaust and power commander along with some other goodies.
Anyways I want to put a larger rear tire on the bike, it has a 180 now. I am guessing I can only go to 190. I see the new V-rods have 240's and I was reading on here you could even go to 260 if you wanted. What exactly do I need to modify my bike? I know I will need a new set of wheels (Size), new brake callipers?axles? ANy help would be appriciated.
Thanks Mike

Mike,
You can cram a 200mm Metzler or Avon on the back of the stock wheel. You can either remove the brackets under the fender (saddle bag brackets) or grind down the inner lip of it for clearance. You may need to notch your belt guard upper and lower to provide clearance for the tire.
If you want to go 240, it's a pretty simple procedure too.
You need to get a 2008 VRSCAW or VRSCDX rear wheel and narrow pulley and belt. The perch for the rear brake will need to be ground down a bit to clear the 240. The rear stock fender will fit, but the under fender will have to be "massaged" to not rub the 240. The spacers and such can be reused from your stock setup.
Going 260 would be a similar fit as teh 240. You can use the VRSCAW or DX wheel, and just slap a 260 on it. You would have more grinding and clearance checking to do on the rear inner fender, and maybe the swingarm.
Going any bigger than that, and you're adding a custom wheel, swingarm, offset drive pulley to the cost.
www.1130cc.com (http://www.1130cc.com) has detailed info on this swap, and other things. You can get all the aftermarket bling you coud hope for from www.hogpro.com (http://www.hogpro.com)
Best of luck.

200 is usually just a direct exchange, 240 requires grinding, and 260 major modification.

Go with the 240 it looks great under the stock 180 fender. There is some work required. Like relocating theturn signals because you have to grind down the inner fender.

1130cc.com is having some issues since the move. We are waiting to hear from the IT department and hopefully we can have this sorted out in the next couple days.
There are lots of folks who can't get on, for whatever reason.

Hi
 \\;
Do you know what year it was when the 240 rear became standard? I've been looking at a 2003 anniversary model, but the 180 rear just doesn't seem to look anywhere near as \\;sexy as the 240.

Thanks
