hello,
the best answer for this question is yes.... meaning all-ways follow the tire man. sugested pressures. that being said/ make sure the tire used meets your riders weight and the cycles weight requirements. hope this helps. ride safe.

I believe the tire manufacture's pressure embossed on the side wall is the maximum tire pressure. Refer to your bike's owner's manual for recommended pressures with varying loads.

Depends on the make of the tire/For instance the Metzler brand requires more air than a dunlop.Follow your manual for stock tires and check the manufacturer for aftermarket.Toby

This isn't a huge thing for the street but depending on how hard you ride, you might keep in mind that as you ride and the tire warms up the air in it expands and increases the tire pressure. So if the man says to run 40, you might want to put them at about 37- 38 and let it expand from there. When I was racing, the best pressure to run was 31-32 (depending on air temp & ground temp) and we always filled the tires to 27-28 and let it expand from there as the tires warmed up.

I think that`s why they list the pressures at "cold".They account for the warm/expansion.Toby
