I have painted cars before, but never used a clear coat.

Any opinions on which is better lacquer or enamel. I am

coating over metallic acrylic. I read lacquer gives a better

shine, but enamel is a harder finish and holds up better.

Lacquer chips too easy. I'd go with urethane.

Urethane.  Nobody does lacquer anymore because of the lack of durability.  Enamel is good for flat or satin finishes, but I wouldn't use it for glossy.
