96 Evo Road King Bearing Fried - 5/5/2008 9:44:11 PM    Slowride262   Posts: 19 Joined: 7/30/2007 Status: offline Ok Ok I know theres about 29 million posts on people asking What Cam do I need. But heres what I got for problems. My cam bearing are fried it sounds like a bag of marbles in a blender its that bad. But what I'm wondering is I have a 96 Road King Fuel Injected and I seen on E-bay they have a kit with an Andrews Ev 23 cam. Being that the 96 is a fuely that can't be adjusted will this cam work in my bike or should I just go to my local stealer and go with the stock set up?   Post #: 1

That bike can be adjusted, and if you want to upgrade to the 97B ECM, you can put just about anything you want on it. (in reply to Slowride262) Post #: 6

RE: 96 Evo Road King Bearing Fried - 5/6/2008 2:12:57 PM    miacycles Posts: 569 Joined: 9/20/2007 Status: offline For a Road King a Woods 6 grind wil give you all the torque you could ask for up to the stock redline, combine that with a power commander and you are in business!!!!!!. If your bearing has come apart you will need to clean out your oil pan, lines and check your pump and cases. If you don't you could/will have problems farther down the road. The woods the EV13 and the 23 are all good, just depends on what you want. RE: 96 Evo Road King Bearing Fried - 5/18/2008 9:23:30 PM    Slowride262   Posts: 19 Joined: 7/30/2007 Status: offline Well finally was able to get at seeing what the heck was wrong (10 days on 5 off) and found that the lifter closest to the cam bearing flat spotted on the roller and wiped the top of the lobe off. Asked the local indy tech Phil what would cause something like that? Well he seems to think that the bearing was going bad and maybe a piece of crap got in there just right to start it sliding then it all went down hill from there. But I guees this is what I'm going to do. He talked me into going with all S&S Lifters,Cam and push rods and use all Jim's gaskets with a Rev tech DFO and of course the torrington bearing hope it all works out. And I hope it works good with the BUB Cross Dressers I got on it. But I guess I'm going to have to find an A/C that will open it up some more but I was wondering if I backspaced the cover from the Air filter with a spacer about 3/8 of an inch would that work till I get something better like next payday so I can eat till then?     (in reply to phat96) Post #: 9
