When I first started reading this board I was surprised by how many brand new bikes there were. Since then I've been more surprised by how quick so many folks are to trade. Anybody who's had his current bike longer than a year is the exception around here. Maybe it's just because owners of new bikes are more likely to post...who knows.
BTW- I plan on remaining the exception for some time- unless I hit the lotto, that is.

I bought a new 1980 Sporty and hated it, and sold it to get a 1980 Super Glide. The last new Harley I bought was a 1983 Low Rider. Jeez that was 25 years ago. As soon as my used 1994 Low Rider wears out maybe I should consider another new one. Something to ponder.

$20K??? Yiles!!! The Nighttrain's a great bike & all but for that kind of money you could have bought a Softail Deluxe, Street Glide or Road King Classic? But if that's what you really wanted more so than anything other bike then all the best to ya. The Night train's a great bike & comfortable as a bastard!
Good luck nice bike. What was wrong with the Bob? Msrp with setup and alarm black I presume would be about 17k tax on the difference of the trade should be small. Did you not get pipes etc. I hope.

Not sure I understand...MSPR is $15,895. Assuming you got the security system, the wheel option and with freight it should have come to...$17,090. If you lost $1000 on trade is still should have come to $18,090.00.

20k is normal in california after tax title and license plus a couple accessories....i dont know about all you guys back east...hell i paid after everything about 17500 for my street bob. and i dont regret it one bit.....but i might be getting a bagger in the next couple of years.
The Night Train is a sweet ride. I wouldn't mind having one myself. I probably would have bought that instead of my Wide Glide had I known that the passenger pegs were mounted to the swing arm on the Wide Glide.
20k for what I got is a good deal.....Harley recently raised all their interest rates also.....TRUE STORY. With neg equity.....500 down....20k is more than fair.

In any state with a high tax rate...tax and title will bring this right up to $20k
But I am curious why...did you get the wrong bike to start with or what?

hey if it makes you happy then dont sweat ityour the ne paying for the thing not us. I remember back in the late 70's I made the statement I would never pay 10,000 dollars for a new pick -up truck. I never did pay ten grand but I have payed 14,000 , 17,000, 25,000 and 32,000 for new trucks since I made that statement.
