Just a quick question.  I'm going to take the came cover back off this weekend to clean and replace the gasket which is leaking a bit.

Before I do that, simple question.  When replacing the CAMS and aligning the marks should not the timing mark for the 1st cylinder be in the timing hole?  What I mean is with the timing mark straight up will the piniongear be correctly posisitioned for the install of the cams?  I would think that would need to be done.  But just need to ask.

No. The timing slash is positioned straight up (centered) in the hole to time the oil pump breather only.
After that has been done, the cam gear marks can be aligned without having to look at the timing mark in the hole (because the mark will have moved when you align the marks on the gears)
Clear as mud I'm sure........pg

No no it's perfectly clear.  Thats what I needed to know.  Didn't know if the timing mark was upright if the piniongear would be aligned and ready for the cam install.  But it makes perfect sense that the mark is upright for the oil pump.  Needs to have the correct posistion for pump to be in synch.

Thats what I needed to know.  Thanks PG.
