A dealer in Denver called me a few days ago and told me that they were already ordering '09 bikes and that a few new '09 color options are now available. He said that he didn't have any other info as to what new features, if any, the '09's come with. Apparently, the factory options available are the same as the '08's. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

I hate to say that this dealer if full of horse hockey but to say they are already ordering 09 bikes is wrong. The dealers (even ones in Colorado) don't even know what bikes are going to be available until they get to the dealers meeting in July. Dealers here in the states do not get advance notice of these things until they go to the meeting. At that point they find out what models have been dropped/added to the different families, what the color choices are and what the new accessories for the bikes are. The people who handle military sales overseas know this info prior to the dealers here in the states.

Hey Peppa1 I'm not calling you out but your info is not correct. Dealers can order 09's that are being continued. They cannot order the new releases until the show.

Peppa1, I think you'll find the new bikes at the dealerships at or near the same time as the dealer show. I don't think they would have ordered them the day before.
The dealer show is only 90 days away.

Trike can't really be considered a rumor. The partnership between Lehman and HD was nnounced 2(?) years ago. That's not a question of "if" but "when."
I've seen colors before the dealer meeting before. I don't believe that's uncommon. What features will be introduced/continued/discontinued? That's dealer meeting info.

the dealer in my corner of the world (montreal) had a
trike earlier this year, 45$k canadian, was sweet though, nice built in trunk,
sound system, very nicely done....in all likelyhood it was created in house,
and not a "from the factory" model...but that being said, the fatboy was inspired
by the montreal "lowboy" that they started building in the late 80's...so who knows
what we will see eventually.

Ummm Yea, I bought my 2008 SG July of 2007. So I am thinking they certainly should be able to order 09s in 08 right now...... Mine was the first batch of 08s to hit the Dealers in Portland and as I said, had a July 07 delivery to me.
I agree though it hard to order something nobody knows about pending an anouncement by the MOCO.

there also discontinig the night train and the dayna wide glide they just had what hd calls a town hall meeting gm at my local dealer filled me in .

hotrod, I don't mind being corrected when I am wrong. I worked at a HD dealer for 2 1/2 years and know a little bit about how things operate. Here's really how it works:
Some dealers may start to receive some 09 bikes while they are at the dealer show in July however, these aren't bikes the dealer has ordered !! The first few that come in are just what the MOCO sends you, the dealer has no say-so on what models/colors they are.
Then, while at the meeting the dealers do get to see all the models/colors and then get to order the bikes/colors that they really want. Also, depending on the allocation of bikes the dealer gets he has to order a certain amount of each type, Sporty, Dyna, Softail, Touring etc. You can't just get what you think will sell, you have to order a little bit of everything.
