I'm looking at chaining the front sprocket in my primary from a 34T to a 30T, which I think requires a primary chain length change by 2 links shorter. Con you cut down the primary chain and use connecting links? Or is the load high on these chains? Also what is the chain size, a double 40?

If you're referring to something like a 30 tooth EVO Industries sprocket that does away with the compensator, then it comes with the smaller chain...sprocket and chain for about $250. They don't have a 30 tooth compensator yet.

How many miles have you run with the EVO 30tooth sprocket? Can you share some feedback on the change?

I do have the same questions on primary chains, can you shorten a primary and use connecting links?
And what size and type of chain is it, I assume Diamond Chain compay or someone supplies these chains?

I have about 1kmiles with the 30 tooth. I love it. By installing it, you do lose the 6th gear dummy light, but that was no big deal to me. The gearing is where I like it now and has some get up and go off the start line. I believe it is a Diamond chain but I'm not sure. I think the stock chain is a 94 pin and the new chain is 92 pin if I recall correctly. I don't know about shortening the primary chain and using connecting links.
