I originally went to the dealer to get an '08 wide glide, but they only come in the duracell so i went with the super glide custom. i would not of taken the wg in that color sceme if they gave it to me at black cost. i'm thinking they sold very few '08 wg's.

What about the Energizer bikes from a few years back?  Those seemed to sell pretty good.....

Never been a fan of the anniversary concept as a whole.  Alot of guys were dumping their 100th models on Ebay over the last year or two I've noticed.  This color combo is off the hook though..just plain butt ugly (IMHO) if you like it..go for it

Hmmm two of your whopping three posts concern the 105th Anniversary bikes.
a. It's a "Harley-Davidson" decision on anniversary models. They have had them since long before you even thought about riding.
b. If you dont like em you have a choice. There's always Honda.
c. If you can do better - go for it.
d. Some areas can't keep them in the store - they sell out.

Love mine.

And I have no problem picking it out of the sea of "individually" colored bikes.

My dealer only had one left when I was there on Saturday.

Had a bunch of black ones, though...

Another bi-weekly thread about how ugly the Dura-cell colors are.

Funny how nobody has ever come up to me to tell me that my bike is ugly, isn't it?  My wife and I bought our Ultra because we like the color combo, not as a collector's item.  If you don't like the color of my bike, look the other fkn way.  I guess I could have been original and bought another black bike and, I know, maybe add more black parts to it.  Then I, too, could be cool.

I like the color, especially in the sunlight after a fresh wax job.  And as the prices are dropping a bit - saw $17,500 on the 105th WG last week - they are moving them around here.  Riding this weekend with the wife I saw an Anni Wide Glide in Burlington, an Anni Electra Glide Ultra Whatzit - I dunno what they call them nowadays - on I40, an Anni Road Glide (?) with the full faring and the twin headlights at a gas stop near Climax whose owner invited us to a party in Ashboro, and an Anni Sportster at an auto parts store in Greensboro.

Most people either love the color or hate it.  I love it.  And as the prices drop a little more people are moving on them.  HD shops always have models years left over, it's not a big deal.  It's just that the copper-top color stands out a lot more so people notice more readily.

I think the people who keep making posts about how many are still in the showroom are protesting a bit too much.  I mean, really, what do you care?  You pissed cause you can't afford one, or what?

I was always told if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.

Until reading this thread I had no idea they were charging extra for the anniversary model bikes. I've never gotten close enough to one to see the price. That puts the surplus more into perspective for me.

I like the color, but there are a ~lot~ of them out there.  I think they were overproduced.

It's quite apparent that the guy who hired Elton John for the 100th anniversary was moved to the Design department and the duracell paint scheme was his first project.

The dealer here has a SE Dyna Anniv model that is a wicked sweet bike. Seen an Ultra with the color scheme and it looked pretty good also.  Not sure I liked it so much on the Sportster though.

It's all about what one's individual choice is.  Me, I won't buy anything but red...To me it is the most desirable color and black the least because everybody has black and it so hard to keep clean.  But again, it is just my opinion and valuable only to me.  AS for being able to tell they are anniversary editions instead of newer years, who cares about that ?  I ride what I want and think you probably do too. I don't represent my bike to be anything other than an awesome looking 95 Ultra.  I'll get a new one next year or so but I am happy with mine.  Had I been ready to buy new this year I might have considered the anniversary model simply because they had ABS standard.

MAke mine red

Bubba

I've never owned a black bike. I like other peoples' black bikes but they just aren't for me.

I suppose a lot of people wouldn't like the pearl ghost flame paint on my Deuce, below, or the turquoise on the Heritage or the two red bikes, but hey, that's why they make so many colors. No two people are the same.

I like the 2005 anniversary colors, but on someone else's bike. Those owners probably wouldn't prefer my bikes.

Isn't that what it's all about?

Just sayin', but I can't see trashing someone's scoot just because it wouldn't be my personal favorite...

Let's ride!

They do not move at all here in SoCal, floors are Full of them, went by one dealer 2 months ago and noticed all these "2toned Gray and Black 105 Anniv models" I asked what they where the sales guy said that they have started Repainting them Gray and black cuz they have so many, went back a month later and most of the gray and Blacks where gone but the 7 that they left copper where still there, not moving.

Personally I think HD blew it with colors on the 105th bikes.  I know my view isn't shared by all; however I think they could have turned the 105th into a hot item if, 1) the colors were better, and 2) they were truly a limited production.  I bet the majority of dealers absolutely hate HD's decision on the colors since in many areas the bikes are very slow to move.  Its almost humorous around here.  Everytime I walk into a dealership I see more and more of them...its like they're mutliplying!  Maybe they really are limited in production; however judging by the ratio of anniversary bikes to non-annys on my local dealers' floors, you'd have a hard time convincing me.  Just my $0.02.

I think what you are noticing is that since HD has cut production by 15,000 bikes this quarter some dealers are starting to run a little low on regular models and they are pulling the extra 105ths from the warehouse into the dealership to fill floor space.  I really dont think it is a good sales move to fill the showroom with "Limited Edition" bikes. HD has not produced any 105th this year...they made them all in 2007.  Who knows how many are still in the warehouse.
