Wow!  I was out of town today and dropped into the local HD dealer.  I think 1/4 of the bikes on the floor were Duracells.  There were 3 Road Glides and 3 softail deluxes and at least one of everything else.  with the '09s about to come out , this can't be good....

I know they do not move in my town. Why buy them? They cost more upfront and pay back no more and in most cases even less than a standard. Besides that, everyone knows what year it is unlike any other clean bike, you can't tell what year they are.

One of the dealers her had about 1/3 of their inventory, but another dealer had only 3 total of the 105th.  I think HD should do another round of the 1.05% financing and I would think they would sell all the rest fast now that spring/summer is here.

I started a thread here last week questioning this (Leftover Anny bikes)

And all I got was abuse

But its getting closer to July week by week and they are still there in abundance

When HD comes out with an anniversary color theme, why don`t they have different colors for different models? It takes away from the uniqueness of the whole idea when 50% of the Harleys for that year are the same color.I personally would not buy an Ann. model because of this scenario.Any thoughts?Toby

The local dealer here has a whole gang of them, at least one of each model.  They have had them since they came out.  Right now they have them all together in the front of the store trying to give them max exposure i guess.

Maybe they should throw in a paint set , that you can change out , surely this would be cheaper than a fire sale discount

The local dealer has a bunch, in every line except Sportys. If they discount the hell out of one, I might buy one and get it painted.

I think I've maybe seen one or two out on the road.  They really could have picked a more neutral color scheme if they wanted to sell them.  I know it's supposed to be unique, but I doubt that a majority of people are into that paint, and then if you repaint it, that kinda kills the whole anniversary model thing.  Maybe it would have been better if they'd have just done the bronze, instead of two tone.

I see a few on the streets, but most I see are on the dealer's floor.  Saw a Wide glide in a small town yesterday.  The only 105 ann. bikes I like is the ultra and CVO models. The CVO models because of the different shade of copper.  to me the Ultra color combo looks good.  Agree  different models should have different color scheme for uniquness.
As expected still partial to the 95th anniversary color scheme, but only on some models.  And not because of value, because not much there, but the color suits my eye.  To each his own.

maybe since most dealers have plenty they should have been painted according to Henry Ford, you can have any color you want as long as it is BLACK !!!!
I've seen few on the roads but every shop I stop in has plenty.

Zylstra's in Ames, IA had at least 8 of them out of probably 20 bikes on their main showroom - most likely they have plenty in their warehouse if they had that many on the main showroom floor. Geez I wonder why sales are down with those pretty colors !

Agreed!
I'll betcha they could come out with a 106 Anniversary model in Vivid Black and sell the Shiite out of them.

Every year the dealers here have leftovers of some models and colors.  They will hold the line on price as long as they can, but in July they have a red tag sale and mark all bikes a little under msrp....they sell the hell out of the leftovers and they are all gone in a week or two. I would expect most of the 2008 leftovers this year will be the 105th...but they will sell all of them soon.

I went to a local dealer and saw 07 models on the floor marked new.  The production cuts will help liquidate but with those aweful anniversay paint jobs I can't see them moving out the door that fast.

Sure, they only made about 225,000 of them. Scarce as hens teeth.

I dont have one but I like the colors, especially on the Sportster 1200.  I've seen them on the street around here quite a bit but there's always a couple on the dealer's floor too.

I like mine and I'll tell you I get a compliment almost every time I park my Heritage.  Got another one today.  You have to remember the economy sucks and the 105th anniversary edition on my bike was, I think, $1100 more than a black Heritage.  A two tone Heritage is around $700 more.  The main reason I bought the anniversary edition is because I got 1.05% financing.  Without that, I wouldn't have bought it.  But I really like the colors now but of course I'm prejudiced.

Only seen one on the road around here , guess the dealers could repaint them or have some Custom Painted Factory skins put on them . Never really liked the copper top or the 100 anniversary silver/black combo .

My wife really liked the color and be honest it grew on me. In my area one deal only has two. another dealer about 6 but I never see a Custom Softail sitting on the floor.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the color combo, if you have one and like it, more power to ya. They're just not for me. However, they sure seem to be selling recently. Seems like it wasn't that long ago that there were several of each model with the anniversary paint on the showroom floor and now there aren't many at all. Guy who works next to me at work does most of the sales (accy installs on sold bikes) work for the dealership and all 3 of his racks this morning had copper-tops on 'em that had been sold in the last 24 hours, with another waiting off to the side for a free lift.

I was at the dealership yesterday, they only have 2 copper bikes left. In addition, they had 1 X bones and were sold out of Rockers.   Even with the production cut, all dealers are still very well stocked with all bikes.  For some reason they have a Ton of the Dyna line, all colors and all models.  They keep track of sales on a board so people can see.  They had sold 40 bikes in May so far.
