It's for sure an older model butterfly carb. It looks like a Flowmaster Screaming Eagle. The later versions of those are a lot better. If the throttle shaft is worn, toss it and find a later model or a better make of carb.

It's very similar to the stock carbs that came with the late 76's through ?? There are a few differences in it though. The choke appears to be a bit difference and the float bowl doesn't look the same either.
