Hi well hoping someone can help?I had my speedometer off my 92 softail while trying route my speedo cable through the frame my speedo shorted against the the igniton switch.I know i should have disconnected battery i normally do but was in a hurry lol.while it sounded like something shorted and blew.My problem now is after bleeding my brakes which are working fine i have no brake lite front or back.turn signals work,lights work starter works just no brake lights.Was wondering i have been looking in my manual i cant seem to find anything that might have blew.Is there a fuse or something that controls brake lights?I know the is a brake switch on the front and a switch on the back brake but i cant see blowing both switches makes me think the must be something common to both front and back brake light?Any ideas?Thanks

well traced wiring in manual and it seems the orange side of front brake switch and back brake switch run to some breaker under the dash and of course the are 3 and this on i cant even get to its at the back behind the other 2 breakers.MY question is are the breakers of fuses?IS it possible the breaker is no good?It looks like the breaker is for accesories so the manual says.Would brake lights be accesories?Is there an easier way to prove its the breaker?Thanks hope someone can help

I am guessing you already checked to make sure the bulb didn't burn out?...

just measured with volt meter one side of the rear brake switch is hot with the ignition on.Is there away to prove the 15 amp break is good or bad?

Just measure resistance across the breaker with no power: 0 ohms = good, infinity = open breaker and is bad. Breaker should only read infinity after 15 amps is exceeded and breaker trips. After breaker resets (some need to cool down), then it should read 0 ohms again if it is working properly.

well from the schematic the oil light as well as the neutral light come of this breaker and they are working so how can it be the breaker?Well been working on this to long today i give up for today.question if one side of the rear brake switch is hot with ignition on should i remove the bulb from the brake light and see if the is voltage?I know there is for the running light cause that is working.So i assume with the lights on ill have voltage across the 2 terminal of the socket now im not sure how to test the brake?If i have someone hold down the rear brake pedal and if go from one treminal of the light socket to ground should i have voltage?Thanks

well took bulb out of socket and put one lead of meter to one terminal and othe lead of meter to ground had wife press brake pedal and got 12 .3 volts then let go of pedal no volts.Same with front brake so i cant figure out why bulb wont light metered buld its good tried 2 more bulbs still wont work will come on with lights and thats it no brake light any ideas?Thanks

This may sound stupid but check if you are placing the bulb in the right way..

Did you change to the new high intensity bulb? For some reason that bulb will not work on my bike.

Are you using a dual filament light bulb? It is the type with two contacts on the bottom. If you have only one contact on the bottom, it is the wrong type bulb.
