Default Going to tear it back down.

Well I can't seem to find the knocking sound that keeps coming from my engine, after it warms up it starts making a knocking sound in the rear cylinder, or so it seems, when you first crank it it's very quiet and then, I even checked the compensator nut, I had a 16" adj wrench and took a hammer and tryed to check it, I don't think it's loose, I may have broke a ring or maybe busted a piston, who knows, man I hate to have to do this again.

Some suggestions.

1. Do a compression test or a cylinder leakage test on both cylinders and compare. If you broke a ring that would surely show up on a compression test.

2.Remove the oil filter and cut it open to check for metal. If you have a serious problem, there will be metal in the oil filter.

3. I don't know if you have adjustable push rods but check the push rods and make sure that you don't have a loose one. A push rod with too much clerance canmake a lot of racket.

4. Check your primary chain for proper adjustment. A too loose primary chain can make some racket after the engine is warm.

I had KB pistons in a V8 a while back and my machinist was too chicken to fit the pistons as tight as KB suggested and that turd always had a piston knock from day one.

It just might be that simple.

Well I tore it down, at least the back cylinder, no broke rings and no heavy scuffing, I might have a bore problem or clearence that is, I used a dial caliper and checked the bottom of the cylinder and got 3.878, if the piston was 3.875 thats 3 thous clearence and thats to much, will cause piston rock, I'm getting a lightshiney spot right under the piston ring in front and back, also the jug looks sorta the same in front and back, it aint looking good, my indy say's that the jug needs to be put in a tq plate and torqued down to show proper clearence, I don't know but that's what we are going to do.
