My brother in law and I went to the west coast of florida early this morning to go seea and possibly buy a 69 camaro in Fort Myers.
Anyhow we are crossing alligator alley andwe aredriving anew demo from one of our stores Lexus ES 350 and we are moving along cruise control setat about 95-100 mph. This freaking car you do not feel anything it feels like you are going 30 mph.Well we are more than half way on the alligator alley and hiding behind a the side of a bridge there he was a county sherrif when my brother in law saw him it was too late and we knew we were getting stopped.Well we pull over even before the LEO caught up to us. My brother in law has his liscense already in his hand waiting for the officer to come up to the window. Officer very politely says good morning sir I clocked you at 94 on a 70 mph zone so I need your drivers liscense, registration and insurance card.My brother in law hands him the liscense and tells him that the registration and the insurance card are in the glovebox but he is not reaching for it, he then repeats himself back to the officer about the registration and insurance card being in the glove box so I say to the officer, there are two guns inside the glovebox and we want to let you know before I get the registration and insurance card from the glovebox, by the way I have a conceal weapons permit so I get my wallet out and show him the permit and my liscense and he says "thank you" for letting me know about the guns take them out and put them on the dash, I do so and hand him the paperwork he asked for. My brother in law asked him if he would give him a break because we both drive company cars from our dealers and the insurance company is very sensitive to tickets because the millions of dollars in liability. Officer asked him if his liscense was good and he said yes have not had a ticket in years, he goes to his patrol unit few minutes go by and he returns and says today is your lucky day I am letting you off with a warning but with one condition you need to let me check that bad ass Kimber Tactical of course we say sure my brother in law takes the clip out and the bullet of the chamber and hands the gun over this officer was in love with this gun he was just going on and on about how bad ass the gun was, so picture this we are on the side of the road with a cop car behind us and this officer aiming the gun into the everglades for a few seconds can you imagine what thepeople drivingby were thinking seeing this. This officer was the coolest LEO I have seen in many years. He told us stay under 80mph and no one will bother you, have a great day!!!! Needless to say the Camaro turned out to not be as great as the owner described it, but we had a good day anyways....Thought I would share with all of you!!!!

I don't get stopped very often, but it seems to me here in Ohio that LEO's realize that if you have a CCW permit (which I do), your background has been checked out real thoroughly and usually you can be trusted not to be a dumbass or desperado...I've been treated very courteously and more than fair on those rare occassions I've been stopped...

Great story! Last time I was across Alligator Alley was in 1986. We were overflown by a single engine aircraft at low altitude. We didn't thing much of it until just down the road a trooper car was stopped and the officer was motioning for us to stop. Turns out the plane clocked us at 76. To beat it all, the trooper was a female and on top of that, very hot! We weren't as lucky as you though. Guess we should have pulled our guns out.
I remember the signs that said "Watch for panthers, only 28 left". Someone had sprayed over the "28" and wrote "27".

Was also on Alligator Alley a couple of weeks ago. Hada flat late at night, almost immediately a Road Ranger pull up behind us and fixed the flat. I gave him the best tip of his life! LOL. Thats a misrable road late at night, though much much better than the old alligater alley!

Yes it is a whole lot better, the road has been resurfaced. The amount of police presence is very evident too...

Great story al--There are some good leo's out there as I got pulled over in town where I live for doing 35 in a 25 zone. The leo asked for my license and registration--as I was taking off my helmet and glasses he asked where I was from. I told him I live and work here in town. He then recognized me and asked "how was waterfowl hunting this year" ?:DWell--we started talking about this and that--next thing you know I get a warning to just slow-it-down a little! heehee:D I got lucky as I know I should have got a ticket but I do feel the warning was all that was needed and justified! It also makes me feel that there are still a few good leo's out there in the world! ;)

Had a trooper in Mo stop me for 89 in a 70 (In my semi) we got talking , turn out we owned a few of the same gun's , I mentioned my log book was "off" so he just wrote for that.....
About a month later going other direction , see a trooper jumping into the medianlike he really has something on his mind, knowing whom he wanted to talk to , I went up the next ramp as I was walking back he met me halfway "Driver when I told you to slow down the other day I was really looking for more than 3mph ....that logbook behind today too?" I said yessir! and got same ticket.....cheaper & no points as opposed to a speeding one

Is called a demo because I drive the car for 5000 miles then I grab another vehicle or truck. I carry a weapon all the time because I live in Miami do I need to say more [8D][8D]

I have only every gotten out of two tickets...first one the cop called me Sir (I'll give him the fact I normally wear my hair short & it waaas 4:30am). The second was because of my CPL. He pulled me over and said hello & I told him I was carrying and where it was. He was shocked! Completely floored that I told him I had it. Which I don't get because it shows when they run your DL. But yeah all in all cops tend to be a lot nicer when they know you've got a CCW. :D

We saw three camaros and all three of them did not make one good one, freaking rust buckets. People have no respect for money the one guy was asking 24k, it was not worth 5k in my book

It is one of the benefits of being one of the Fixed Ops Director forthe Auto Group we work for. He is in the Lexusstore and I am in the Toyota Store.Even some of my top managers get a demo allowance of $500.00 per month to pay for whichever toyota or lexus they purchase....
