A lot of it depends on how much you want to spend, I have a 02 Fatboy, with progressive air ride shocks with compressor, about $1,200,I'm very happy with the results, on my girlfriends07 night trainI just used the white brothers set up it's only about $100.00, and you just need a press to take the shock apart, when I did her bike it took about 3 hrs including going to my buddies shop to use his press, as far front, I'm tol white brothers or progressive are the way to go, hope I helped, latr, Mark

been out of the loop for a while, not really up on softail forks.but i had an 04 super glide,i loosened the tripple trees, slid the fork tubes up 1" retightened, with the chrome top fork nut and chrome tubes it was not that noticeable at all,and still had stock ride.that 1" made a big difference,i have a lot of curvy roads here ended up putting them back to stock position,$$$$ spent none!left the shorter shocks on!
