Making it Loud?
I'm a relatively new rider (1 year). I just recently traded in my 2003 Sportster in for the 2008 model. My only complaint with the new customs is that they don't come out of the showroom very loud. I'm looking for a cost effective way to make her louder.
I'm looking for recommendations on custom pipes, tweeks I can make to the bike, etc...like I said, I'm fairly new, so all infor is appreciated. |
RE: Making it Loud?

RE: Making it Loud?
AHHH GRASSHOPPER, you have embarked on a quest that requires you to travel a road of many twist and turns, with many hidden pitfalls in the form of choices, you will feel overwhelmed at times, and might make several changes at a great monetary cost to you during your quest for the perfect tone. Fortunately you don't have to pick up a hot cauldron with your forearms in this day of enlightenment, you can just search Exhaust sounds on YOU-TUBE and get a pretty good idea of what the different set ups sound like. The next episode will cover Fuel Management which is a whole other quest that is just as confusing as the age old question of Which Pipes Do I want on my Harley? Good luck and remember that only when you have traveled this road will you have a true understanding of which pipes are right for you and your machine. Ride Safe

RE: Making it Loud?
I love the look, sound and performance of my Pipe Dreamz exhaust... But.... I've heard just about every exhaust system available....And nothing sounds sweeter than a set of Rineharts IMHO

RE: Making it Loud?
Samson Big Guns 3 Street Sweepers
Not only do they look good but they sound AWESOME |
RE: Making it Loud?
The most cost effective means that I know to get a better soundis with a set of Cycle Shack slip on mufflers. As HDK and jblank37 said, the Rinehart's are one of the best sounding but you pay for it.

RE: Making it Loud?
The V&H pipes sound nice. I've also heard the hooker pipes ona guys bike, nice. So many are so worried about the sound they forget about performance. Read up on exhaust and you'll see a 2into1 exhaust system is better for performance. I would'nt put glasspacks on a Porsheno matter how it made it sound.Look at most drag bikes or bikes set up for other types of racing and you'll see almost all use a 2-1. For sound buy a chainsaw.[8D]If you just want balls out sound...NOTHING...can compare to the sound of straight pipes/drag pipes.
