I pulled a screw out of my rear tire and plugged it.Bike is getting a new crank and is on lift and hasnt been rode since tire was plugged.Also tire had ride-on tire sealant in it and lost no pressure looking at the screw its got several hundred miles on it.Tire has 4000 miles on it.Looks to me a new tire is in order.Anybody rode on a plugged tire?Plug is in center of crown

Depends on what kind of plug, who plugged, type of riding, how far from home you're going.

Front tire, never.

Two up? I wouldn't take the chance.

Freeway or high speed?  I'd think twice.

Long distance?  Probably not.

Did I ever do it?  Yes, on a  $1000 old bike I only rode around town solo.

That's a real pretty bike.  How much will you save?  $130/10,000 x 6000 = $78.

Would I risk my a** for $78 on a beautiful bike?

The real question is; "Do you feel lucky?"

I've got a patch/plug in my rear tire, had it for 2000 miles at least.  I went with the patch/plug because I only had 150 miles on the tire when I found the screw in it.   If I was up around the 5000 mile mark I may have replaced the tire depending on tread ware and location of the screw.  You'll see that some people on here will not patch/plug no matter what.  To each his own.

I have ridden plugged tires numerous times without a problem.   But that is jsut me.
