Default Who else enjoys this pastime??

Needing a little help in making the time go bye this past winter, I took my first steps into a new hobby. I do think the weather has something to do with the Northwest being the source of so many great brewerys.

I've certainly enjoyed being the recipient of the end product. I've got a good friend who brings me her homebrew creations and they have alway been very good.

I've been brewing for about 10 years. Once I retire from the Army and we settle down (hopefully in Charlotte, NC) I really want to step it up. I'd really like to have a good bar and brewing system in the basement. If thre's no basement, there will be an addition put on the house!

Here's a pretty good forum on home brewing.

It's amazing how easy or complex you can make this activity. I planted some hop, Cascade, and now that we are getting some nice warm temps , 42lo- 55hi, they are taking off. It gives me something to check on daily while things are fermenting.

Wild Bill, you never mentioned homebrewing. If you get tired of bottling let me know, I have 5 - 5 gal soda kegs and a CO2 bottle sitting in the garage that I haven't used in the past 4 -5 years. I just loaned out my all-grain brewing set-up (3 kegs, stand, and burners) to one of my cousin's kids. Let me know where you live and I will stop by and sample!!!

Way to go. I think that's great.

I have a relative in a big city who does that. He makes some great stuff.

They have so much chlorine in their city water that it sometimes kills his brew. He gets his water here - everytime they come to visit he brings a bunch of 5 gallon containers and gets our well water. "It's the water." Our water is snow melt from the Cascade Mountains - cold, clear - best I've ever tasted and tests pure at a lab.

I'd like to try it some day.
