This is what I use, I love this helmet. If you are looking for a light weight, small off the head DOT approved helmet give these guys a try:

scorpion exo 100. We just bought 2 of them from motosport. $109.95 free 2 day fedex shipping. Helmet harbour has a video review on them. Read other reviews also and seems to be one of the best for the money. I have to say its as good if not better then the video review reported. It might be alittle too modern looking for some but the features and comfort is excellant and your head fits deep in to it.

I'm still looking for the "list of approved" helmets........until I do, the German novelty stays.  Helmet manufacturers perform their own tests and decide if its DOT.  WTF is that about?

I have the Scorpion & it's a fine helmet but I think it still is on the large side. I picked up a Vega XTS a few months ago & love it. Much smaller then the EXO 100 & still comfortable.

I have a Vega, a Fulmer, and a Skid Lid. They are all monstrously gigantic. They make you look like you have a 30 pound growth on your head. Novelty helmets are the only small ones. They are not DOT approved, but they are certified by the Pakistani Government to be of a black color.

I have been looking at the vega xt also. Glad to hear someone else likes them too. The half helmet I have now does'nt even have a brand name on it!   I bought a couple of helmets years ago when riding--then sold motorcycle and one helmet--kept the helmet I now have but can't remember where I got it!

All helmets make us all look like The Great Gazoo...believe me, you look foolish in a helmet and so do I...we should all be kind and not laugh at one another, but let's not fool ourselves either...

Me too.  I have this one http://www.carbonfiberhelmets.com/images/pictures/gallery/flat-half.jpg and like it just fine.  In my case it fits closer to my head than the one this cat is wearing.

I bought one of these a few days ago. Great helmet, built in drop down visor like an aircraft helmet. I've badmouthed Scorpion Sports for about 2 years after buying a too small exo 400, but the 100 half helmet is a nice helmet. not as mushroomy as some dot's but still big on the head. might be because my size is somewhere between basketball and pumpkin, though...

+2. I actually have the non DOT half helmey, but of all the testing for DOT standards, it barelly failed the spear test. The DOT version is actually only about an inch wider than the non dot IIRC. More expensive, which is why I got the non dot.

So that being the case, I stay away from spear delivery trucks on the road and everythings ok.

I have the polo dot and non dot half helmet. I like the non dot had the dot re-shaped and it's better but man it pulls on the highway. I to stay away from spears and the likes.

LMAO.

I have the Vega XTS and even tho' it's thinner than most it's still just a goofy friken helmet. I'm in a nanny state so I don't get a choice. After looking at a bunch of different helmets I just decided it didn't really matter because, like NIGHT TRAIN said, the all look like crap.

I have a Fulmer Hombre that I've thought about replacing for a while, but every 1/2 helmet I've tried on looks worse than the Hombre. When I rode my Sporty this helmet always went back on my head from the wind. I don't have this problem on my EG. I guess I'll stick with this one for a while, especially since I don't buy into replacing helmets every few years like the "experts" say.
