Don't ask me how, but I got only 7200 miles out of the stock tire on the FXSTC.  I may have a few hundred more left, but that's about it.  No, I'm not hard on my tires, don't do burnouts, etc.  Most of my riding is highway, 1 up.  Go figure      The roads are pretty rough out here in deep south TX, and of course HOT!!!!!  Ok, the questions:

1.  Who has a longer-lasting tire in the 200mm?  I should be getting much more than just over 7K.

2.  Who online has the best price for the this tire?

I got 10000 on the dunlop and  4700 on the metzler. Tire preasure is the key. I know someone who got 15000 running at 42psi. i am trying the same. Also braking hard eats the tire.

its your life with only a 2" contact patch i wouldnt run my tyers over preasure!!!!!!!!!!! a geezer had his wrecked glide dragged in to the local dealer here in uk, tyre preasures were 18psi they wont pay out to fix it! if you do all highway miles it flat spots the middle & makes the bike handle pap i like a road with bends

I got a tad over 9600 miles on my stock tires.  The front had tread left, but signs of cupping.

I replaced both tires with HD replacement Dunlops.  The stock tires did fine by me, so I didn't start looking into alternate brands.

I bought my set on eBay after doing a search for the Dunlop model#.  Turns out that my indy could have matched those internet prices as well with his local supplier.  Anybody will beat the stealership pricing.

My replacement set of tires ran $152 for the rear (DUNLOP D205 200/55R17 200/55-17 HARLEY FATBOY REAR TIRE)  $124 for the front tire. (DUNLOP D205 140/75R17 HARLEY FATBOY FRONT TIRE)

The vendor was americanclassicmotors.

So, for $276 (including shipping) I got two new tires and my indy installed them during my 10k service interval.

I've rarely gotten over 8K on anything on the rear. I put a set of metzlers, but too early to tell on mileage. Handles a good deal better though.

My dealer charges me 180 mounted and balanced plus weights front or back for Dunlop. The front Metzler cost about the same. They said my couping on the front was caused by the wheel bearing being bad and was replaced under warranty.

The only time I have changed a rear tire under 10K is when I was going on a 6k trip and I had 8K+ on the rear before starting.  Don't like to have tires changed by a dealer on the road that I don't know.  The 05 Ultra that I had the frt tire started cupping at about 21K.  I was given generic reasons by different dealers why this was happening from bad Steering Head Bearings, Frt Wheel Bearings, Defective Tire and the favorite was running incorrect air pressure.  I monitor my tire pressure constantly, solo front and back 36 PSI.  Not being pleased with these reasons I started looking at other bikes frt tires at various meets and events, almost every bike tire I looked at that had over 18K on the frt tire was cupping also. I finally got one dealer to admit that it was inherent in the bigger bikes but to a lessor degree with the softails.  The service Manager said I can't really give you the reason for it.
