Can anyone help? I have purchased a 69' sportster on ebay, and I have a clear MI title {I am in KY}. I have the bike completly tore appart, and noticed that there are no numbers on the stock frame. I looked closer and there are NO scratches or grinder marks. In fact I could be wrong but the frame paint looks factory. I cannot find any rivet holes to put a non existent metal plate on. Now that I am close to going back together and need an out of state inspection from the license branch, I'm a little concerned. Any suggestions???

I can not say that I have done this before.  It isn't as easy as you may think, for getting them inline and spaced properly is a trick in itself. Try to get a steel letter stamp set and beat it out ont the neck. A steel straight edge helps, if you can find a way to keep it from moving.  Go practice on some pipe. _____Oh you could look into purchasing an after market custom frame, the frame will be stamped and your papers will come with the frame.  Good luck.  Aren't the papers called MSO?

If there are no numbers on the frame(they'd be on the right side of the neck) don't try to stamp in the HD vin, older bikes didn't require frame numbers so it shouldn't be an issue with the dmv.
