Just wanted to share the joy I have with the passing of one month since I got my first Harley into my stable. An 08 Denim Blue Street Bob. I am loving it, despite the heat!!!!!!!

Hey, Happy Anniversary!

Next week will be one month for me and my Low Rider.  Because I am a new rider, I've only ridden it twice, and have maybe 10 miles on it.  But to keep up with my other half, I'll be logging the miles pretty quickly.  He likes to take long trips!

Stay safe!

Once I get beyond my nerves, I'll be putting on the miles for sure.  I'm usually on the back of joe.1955's wide glide, and we can do 200 to 500 miles a day.  Two weeks ago, we did 1,000 miles in five days.  (He got his bike December 31, 2007 and has over 17,000 miles already.)  I just hope I'm ready to keep up with him and our riding buddies soon... we have trips planned for Memorial day weekend and 4th of July... and usually we don't even plan, we just go!

Stay safe, and I'll catch up with those 800 miles of yours!!!

Women exaggerate.

I've actually only got a little over 9500 miles on the bike.

You guys are cool!!! It's ok I'd understand any spouse's infatuation with their partner!!! That usually tends to a slight amount of 'embellishment'!!!

Although its getting extremely hot here and therefore Donna you might be able to catch up, I just bought a hydration vest yesterday and we'll see how well it keeps me cool!!! I mean 120 at 4 in the afternoon is absolutely scorching!!!! But i've been bitten by the HD bug, I just can't stop riding... Yesterday for instance, i couldn't go riding, but at least i went out and sat on "Y ddraig Glas" for a couple of minutes, i just couldn't help myself!!!!

Wow, that's like riding into a blast furnace.

I've ridden in 115-120 degree temperatures here before I was smart enough to get a windshield for the bike.

It really helps when that heat is not hitting you directly in the face and upper body.

You're right Joe, and by the way might i add that you have a beautiful looking bike!!! I've been on this forum for a while and let me tell you, yours is one of the top on my list of good looking scoots!!!!

Although a windshield would help a lot, i really love the way it looks without... sacrifice comfort for style i guess!!!

It actually gets up to 135 with 100% humidity in mid july to late august!!!! now what will test the HD bug!!! lol

Thanks for the compliment on the bike.

The balance between comfort and style is the key. There's always a trade-off. I have a detachable windshield and detachable saddlebags, as well as a taller backrest for a large T-Bag.

I can set up the bike for whatever kind of riding I am going to be doing. If we are on a multiple day trip, the bags, windshield and backrest / T-bag can be removed and stored in the hotel room during day trips.

The shorter back rest has a large tool bag attached that carries tools, a tire repair kit and a 12V air compressor. When I put the tall backrest on, the tools go into the saddlebags.

I find if I'm uncomfortable when riding (hot or cold) it can affect my concentration which is not a good thing on four wheels, much less two.

You're absolutely right!!!! The thing is to strike the right balance!!! I am still trying to find the right balance between chrome and blacked out parts, let alone functionality and style!!! lol

I do want to end up with a detachable set of useful parts, but given the way the heat is the fact of the matter is I won't be on any long trips any time soon, unlike you guys where the riding season is just starting i presume.... Or is it riding season all year around??!?!

Happy anniversary.  It gets hot in Texas but not as much as you.  I like to ride a night when it's too hot during the day.  I've always liked riding around sunset, before it gets really dark out and the bugs come out.

In Arizona it's year round.

Leathers and chaps in the winter, usually taking them off by mid day.

In the summer we can ride north about 100 miles and be in the mountains where it is 20 to 30 degrees cooler during the day. The same places have snow in the winter.

Great place to ride any time of year.

Joe, Nice to see you are getting a lot done at work!!

Sorry about the goof on the mileage, I guess it was the mechanic that said I have more than 17K on the van.

UAE, you stay cool out here... I thought it got hot enough here to make the devil go north on vacation, but I couldn't survive 130!!!  Especially not with the humidity!  In Arizona "it's a dry heat".

Like Joe said, when it gets hot out, we saddle up early and head for the hills to cool off... kind of tough returning to the heat at the end of the day, though!

I'm travelling for two weeks this summer only, that is the only time i think i won't be riding!!!!!  You should come down to Abu Dhabi though instead of going to Al Ain, especially since you guys did a bit of offroading!!!

In fact, some of those places had snow TODAY!!  SO we can definitely cool off if we need to!

You know, that cold white stuff that desert dwellers like Joe and I avoid whenever possible!  Although, I'd take snow over 130 degrees any day!

My dealer sent out a $50 gift certificate on the one year for me. The funny thing was that it was address to my Wide Glide.. Not me...

This is funny, because tomorrow, (5/15), is my three month anniversary. I too love my FXDC.

I just went out to the garage to sit on it and have a smoke - started it for a minute. It was great. I think I've been smoking more since I bought it - I go into the garage and size it up...start it at midnight. What's really cool is that I had to make my monthly stipend to the nice people in Milwaukee tonight, as well. Know what?..didn't bother me a bit.  I'll go back to work tomorrow and make more money - no problem.

Then, I'll come home tomorrow night, lace up the big ridin' boots, throw on the jacket, my helmet, my gloves...roll her out into the alley, fire 'er up and rip around Denton county for an hour. It will be more fun than it was the first time I did it.

Life with a new Harley is good, my friend. Enjoy. Always live your best life; a new Dyna makes it easier!

be safe.

I can relate to that DynaRoyce.  When I bought mine I had never ridden any bike before.  It sat in my garage until I took the basic riders course two months after I bought the bike.  I would go out to the garage and sit on it, clean it, and start it up once in a while.  Got it set up now so the payment is automatic.  Out of sight out of mind.

Ride Safe.

Hey, Happy Anniversary!

Next month will be my one year anniversary, I didn't make a big deal out of a monther, and I don't think I will for a year eighter, just happy to be able to ride. I think I will however; throw a party when I hit 10000 miles.

Guess I can't blame you for riding instead of taking pics.  I forget the rest of the world isn't like Joe, whose other hobby is photography.
Will look forward to when you finally get them posted.  In the meantime, happy riding.  I'm actually going to get my "poor motorcycle" out of the garage tomorrow and take it for a ride!  WOO HOO!
