hey Ranger give it a try. Just a warning though you'll get hooked. It's like drinking out of a spitton, once you start you can't stop!

ORIGINAL: honestbob I know there has to be some cowboy shooters out there. YEE-HAA!!!!!! Yup, love it. This will be my tenth year now. I used to shoot near every weekend, but these days it is more like a couple times a month. I also shoot W3G once a month too. And................anything that looks to be a night shoot or an all BP match. I hope to get into it more after next year when I retire.

I've never tried it but I've watched it and it looks like it would be fun. I like shooting my Colt 45 SAA so I'm part way there already.

Springer, you should try it. Introduce yourself at a club and you can bet that all the guns you need to shoot with will be offered. I shot my first three matches with borrowed guns until I had the necessary two sixguns, rifle and shotgun purchased. My home club has a real unique program, due mostly to it's size as the largest club SASS has. We have a new shooters clinic, that cost nothing for anything. The club has the guns, cart, ammo and all a new shooter has to do is round up a cowboy hat and some eye and ear protection. The club has NRA certified instructors that get folks off to a good start in safety and of course all the ins and outs of shooting a match cowboy action style. Granted not every club has had guns donated by members that passed on and a ammo supplier that loads the brass that is recovered from large 4 day matches, but on a whole, cowboy action shooters are one heck of a friendly and accomodating bunch. Did I mention that most of the fun is just dressing up like a kid and having some fun with others. It gets real addicting to meet up with a group that friendly and fun to be with. If you get the chance, give it a try. What the heck, it is a great excuse to buy a mate to your Colt, add a 45lc rifle and a SXS shotgun, some leather and away you go.
