Hey all,
I have a 2001 Heritage and it just broke the 50,000 mi. mark.  I want to upgrade from the 88 to a 95.  I'm looking at boring and honing the cylinders, andrews gear drive cams, Keith Black flat top pistons, and a head job.  This will include new hardware in between (bearings, springs, rods, etc.)  I am wandering if I should focus on anything else to rebuild with the number of miles on the motor...  The tranny and primary run great, the motor still runs very good with no misses or loss of power, and no smoking.  Right now I have a stage 1 air, samson caliber step exhaust, and a power commander installed.  If this work is done to it, will the motor pretty much run and function like new?

No, it will run better than new. Check your rod bearings and such for play but it should be fine.

Definatly make sure to check you lower end bearings, for excessive wear, Also check the connecting rods for excessive play as well , Keep in mind your taking older parts & combining them with performance parts so if they are out of spec you are going to end up rebuilding alot sooner than another 50k

I'm in the same boat with 53K on my '04 EG that is bone stock except for HQ-0034 cams, Rinehart TD's and SE a/c.  My experience riding with guys with 100/100 95" motors is the change to 95" isn't enough bang for the buck FOR ME.  For the extra money to have an essentially new motor (bottom and top ends), I'll put a 4 3/8" crank and do a 103-113" motor--the difference in torque with the stroker will definitely be more significant than the 95" build.

Good luck with your build.
