Default Conversion Complete: From SG to RG

Well, I decided to turn the SG into a RG. Made a number of changes to the bike besides the fairing. What do you think??

Very nice job! Just in time to ride . . .

Got a few questions if you have time to answer.

What bars are those?
Where did you get your mirrors?
Finally, how does the wind protection compare between the two bikes?
Thanks,
Steve

Well done. If it was mine I'd lose the reflectors. Are you happy with it?

The bars are Chubby 10" mini-apes.

The mirrors are H-D. Profile Custom Mirror, part #91697-06

Haven't had enough time on the RG to compare the ride. The windshield is a 15" Cee Bailey which does a decent job so far. I had a 12" Klockworks on and took it off after 1 ride on the freeway. Not my cup of tea..

I think the RG handles better because of the frame mounted fairing but 'm wondering if the Batwing isn't better for overall protection from the wind. If you look at the pics of my SG, you will see I ran a Clearview 6.5" recurve and it did a great job. Seems like you need a taller windshield on the RG to accomplish the same thing??

The wife thinks the SG is a sleeker looking bike. She's not a fan of the big windshield on the RG.

I'll take the reflectors off, just haven't gotten around to it yet..

I figure I will ride it for awhile, and if I decide I like the ride of the SG better I can always change it back. I don't mind tinkering on the scoot......

looks great. i've been thinking of doing it to mine (EG standard). I'm also interested in how the wind protection/ride compares between the two. how much did the conversion cost if you don't mind me asking.

Well, I did a number of things besides the fairing swap so I'm not really sure of the exact cost of just the swap. I got all the parts I needed from Zanottis @ 20% discount. The outer and inner fairing were the most expensive parts with the rest being odds and ends like bolts, radio bracket, screws etc. A number of the parts off the SG were directly transferable to the RG. Had the inner and outer painted from a local guy who did a great job including some tribal work on the glove box doors. The paint work was $350 for everything, including the switch housings. You can also sell what you don't want from the take-off parts and recoup some of the cost. You obviously have to do the work yourself or the cost would be prohibitive....
