the kids were 3yrs old and 5 yrs old!!! the 5 yr old did the damage.  these kids run rampant in my area with ZERO supervision (obviously). they are little bastards, throwing rocks around the parking lot and stuff and ive never once heard or seen them disciplined, i have yelled at them more than their parents, this is the reason im so paranoid about my stuff, for good reason obviously.  im getting a house by next yr so i only have to deal with this sh!t for a little longer.

Schu- i relocated speedo. heres a pic. i would take a better one but under the circumstances.....

I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old.....

I would NEVER expect behavior like that from either of them.. They know not to touch my bike period.  And for the most part they respect that.. of course they are kids and once in a while I'll see a 3 year old handprint on my fender... she just can't help herself sometimes :)  But never would I expect them to throw rocks and purposely scratch it!!!

Of course, they don't run around outside unsupervised either.. Not because i think they're gonna be little vandals, but because it's not appropriate for young children to roam unsupervised outside. It's dangerous and I care very much about them, so I act like a parent should act....like a parent.

unbelievable that these kids roam unsupervised at their age.. I was completely assuming that these were 10-12 year old kids....  Goodness knows what they'll be up to at that age!!

Oh man, what a bite in the arse!! The little Ba#$%rds need a good arse whooping, too bad they probly wont get one. Dont letem off the hook cheap, if you have to go to court, put in a stipulation of going to a bike shop or dealer and washing and cleaning bikes for free all day While you sit back and laugh your arse off atem

Rob i,

You are so right! My youngest is now 22, but when they were that age, they were never unsupervised. They also would have never done anything like that either anyway. They were taught right!
I remember years ago a little kid (must have been 4 or 5) that roamed the neighborhood while his mom took naps.
What is wrong with these people?

Hey Darkside, just a couple of thoughts. First off I am really angry at what those little $%&#'s did to your bike. Anybody who messes with somone's bike should have some common sense beat into them VERY HARD. I hope you get them for all you can (remember all the pain and suffering you went through worrying about your bike can have long term effects on ones psyche LOL). Good luck and please keep us all posted on this one. I'm sure there are many of us who want to know how this thing plays out. All that aside, I am curious why aren't you going to put your bike back the way it was? Other than the V&H short shots(typical) and the couple of bolt on mods your bike was mostly stock. I thought that was "the sh!t". Now you have the SE heavy breather AND you are going to change the paint? WHY? Does your bike suck now and you feel the need to rip it apart and chop it? Since my bike is heavily customized I guess I am wondering what got you to change your "stock is beautiful" mind and try your hand at being an individual?

Your words to me from a previous post:

so thinking that the bike you own and love is the "coolest bike" is wrong??? gotta be the dumbest thing ive ever heard. i wasnt in the market for a bike until i went to a harley dealer with a friend and saw the 1200n and bought it a week later. my opinion- next to a night train the nightster IS the "coolest" bike harley offers right now. so i should think my bike sucks until i rip it apart and chop it??? retarded... i think my bike is the sh!t AS IS!

well i appreciate the kind words from the 1st half of youre post.    BUT.......

if youre trying to start an arguement im not in the mood.  that quote is from another thread all together, and you took it WWWWAAAAAYYY out of context. i dont see anywhere in that quote where it says modding youre bike was wrong..........read the whole thread first before taking quotes and calling me out on it. the 1200n IS sick as hell stock, now im making it mine.  you obviously cant read that well cuz also, where is it written i have a SE heavy breather?  there gotta be something better to do in your life than resurrecting old posts.........i dont know why i let people like you annoy me

P.S. that thread was locked for a reason, dont get this one locked for making stupid comments.

Did you clamp it to the frame tube?
Where are the lights (turns, neutral, etc.)?

actually there is small clamp holding the clutch cable to the frame (sorry i would take pics if i could) and i just mounted it to that took me about 20 min, and its solid as a rock .  right now i have the dummy lights in the same spot as the speedo but i will relocate that as soon as i can. hope this helps

well, talked to paint guy friday, should have bike later this week.  i have a pile of parts i ordered before this happened sitting here staring at me.  the kids' father came over today to talk about payment and see estimate.  im getting half this friday, and other half in 2 weeks- pretty fair i would say.
i gave the dude the estimate to take with him.  he called me like 5 min. later and said "when the bike is done, bring me the receipt so i know everything is legit". wtf? yep thats it, im running a scam, i gave your kids a lollipop and a bag of rice to vandalize my sh!t so i could drop $650 out of pocket and lose my bike for a week.......idiot.  too bad for him he will never see the real receipt cuz it will be a couple bills less than he is giving me i know for a fact i dont need to show him the receipt, all i have to show him is a legit estimate.  what i do with the $ is none of his business.
anyway, thought i would give an update, ill have pics when i get bike back

just out of curiosity... you said that you watched them throw rocks in the parking lot (at cars?) for a few minutes, and then ran out there when they went after your bike?

Or did I misunderstand that??

Sorry about the damage, hope it comes out well in the end for you and that the proper consequences are felt by the kids...

OUCH! Sorry to see that. I am glad you witnessed it and can at least get something out of it.

Can you charge the kids with anything? Nevermind, just saw their age. I am not sure what your options are except sue the parents. And if they agree to pay......why go that route?

Either way, this sucks. I feel for you dude.

Man I'd probably choked them kids out not really but I would have thought it for sure. Like everyone else said a big problem today is parents do not discipline or control their kids, they expect the world to do it for them. Those people shouldn't have been allowed to have kids.
Well hopefully you like the bike more when the new mods are done. My kids 15,16,17 know what respect means to person & property, unfortunately alot of kids aren't taught that now a days

well, ive thought about it, and next time i see him im gonna explain that if he wants to see if its legit then call the custom shop or go down there and see for himself.  he is paying for the damage his kids did to my property, in what way i choose to fix it is none of his concern.  i mean, what if i didnt have the money to fix it right away? he would have had to pay me what the estimate says anyway right.  my only regret.....telling him it was being fixed already

Darksyde, first off sorry bout what the little rats did to your ride, I would definitely not handled it as diplomaticaly as you did, I have a question about your bars , how long are they, and what degree of pullback do they have because that is exactly the look that I am going for on mine.

I would have the painter give you an inflated receipt to show to the guy for your original paint job.  But tell him you need the money from him to pay off the bill cause you don't have the money to get it out of the shop.

That looks effin' sick man!  I do think some pinstriping would really set it off though.  Thought of pinstripe colors?

" I would have the painter give you an inflated receipt to show to the guy for your original paint job..... "

Perfect solution IMHO.

If the shop was willing to give you two estimates they shouldn't have a problem helping you with 2 receipts.

Good luck and very nice results,

Primo
