After reading all the posts about the LRB brake pads, i decided to swap out the factory pads for the LRBs. The first 200 miles they performed great. Now , after about 500 miles on them, the front pads squeel like the front row of a Miley Cyrus concert! If i put just a little bit of pressure on the front brake handel it stops. My buddy has the same problem with his bike, although not as bad as mine. Is this something we have to live with or is there a trick to fix it? Has anybody tried that brake quiet goo that they use for autos? The HD manuel on brake change doesn't call for it. This is driving me crazy as well as being pretty embaressing on bike night. Any suggestions?

Crap, after just replacing my stock pads with LRB Z+, this is not what I wanted to read at all. You should give Lyndall a call and ask them what's up and post what they say.

I went the LRB web page to see if they had any info on fixing the squeel. They have an article on flushing out the brake pistons with brake parts cleaner when you put on the new pads( which i didn't do),so today i followed their proceedure to do this and in addition to the pistons i flushed the whole insides of the calipers, and a ton of black gunk came out. I put it all back together and went for a test drive, and it worked! The back brake was chirping also so i sprayed it(still on the bike) and problem solved. I don't know how often i'll have to do this, but it's good to know i don't have to live with that high pitched squeeking! The brakes are nice and quiet, it's like having a new bike again. I would highly recomend this to anyone with this problem. The whole thing took about 30-45 minutes.

Glad cleaning the brake calipers fixed your squeak. I've got about 200 miles on my LRB Z+ pads, and god they're nice. In the install booklet they give you with the brake pads, they say the maintenance of removing the pads and cleaning the calipers should be done every 2500 miles for best performance. Unless mine start squeaking real bad, I think I'll do the cleaning along with my other 5K interval maintenance.

Thanks for posting your fix.
Jack

I also just put a set of Lyndall Racing Brakes Z+pads on my FATBOY. Same thing start squeeling after 100 miles. Still stops great but squeeks like crazy. Tried the cleaning thing and that worked for a day. Called Lyndall and they are going to send out new pads! They said there was a production problem on some pads, their customer service rep is supposed to call me on Monday, for return info. My fingers are crossed. I told the rep I have a second set that I have not installed yet so they are going to replace both just in case. He said there are no lot numbers or anything only when you bought them. So Call LRB if you are still having problems.

I put a set on my 06 ultra last week. after 500 miles my front takes all kinds of grip to make it stop, the rear will lock up in a heartbeat. Go figure?  What's wrong with the front??

Is the Brake lever spongy?

Lyndalls are based on racing brakes so they seem to really work when a little bit of heat is in them.

Good information. My rear Lyndall pads after about 200 miles are squealing on the last few feet of a stop. Fronts are fine, but guess time will tell. I cleaned the rear calipers and pads and like you guys said, it stopped for about a day. I'll call and see if I can get a replacement set.
