Gas/Oil Dripedge From S&S Carb...Then White Smoke???-Help!
 

O.K. Here it is...Riding my 1988 HD Electra Glide Sport-Mint...Orig. 25k Miles.

Today (Have not really ridden it since last Oct.) I put on about 200 miles and I go to park it and see oil that dripped from the Tear Drop S&S Carb. Cover down onto my chrome case and onto the exhast pipe-maybe about a few drops+. THEN... the bike is idiling a little low at abot 9kRPM instead of it's usual 11kRPM AND White Smoke is discharging from the Right Side Exhast/Tail Pipe. WTF??? Never did this before ever. Opened up the Carb. Cover and the filter is gas/oil dirty-it's usually quite clean.

My buddy told me that it's been sittin awhile-Put some BG44K in it and put some miles on it and see what happens?

Any thoughts/suggesstions would be appreciated. I am interested in any Members opnions and go from there.

I suspect your bike "wet sumped" while it sat. Is that a breather line I see from your crankcase breather to the air cleaner backing plate? If your bike "wet sumped" and that is a breather line, then that is why you have oil up there. Did you notice your oil level in the tank was down some? After 200 miles your engine should have pumped the pooled oil up out of the crankcase. If you had sufficient oil in the bike it should not have damaged the engine and the oil smoke now would be from the oil forced up to the air cleaner. I am surprised though that you are seeing it only on one cylinder.
Clean up or replace your air filter and see if that gets rid of the smoking. You may want to put in fresh spark plugs. I'd go with whatever your bike used before...I am unfamiliar with the BG44K plugs.
Also check your oil pump check valve for build up and clean it or replace it. Use the old ball (if it looks nice and smooth still) to make sure the new one seats. That should keep it from "wet sumping" again. If you don't know what I'm talking about check around the forum for instructions and info about it and how to fix it. Maybe one of your buddies has seen this before and can help you with it.

Thanks Mega-Good info./ideas-sounds like you might be in the know. Appreciate your good feedback and I'll look at doing what you suggest.

Megawatt's got it The smoke coming out the right side maybe less restriction on the right pipe the left has the cross over pipe(add restriction) to flow Both cylinders are seeing the oil but the majority of the smoke goes out the right side ?

there are some leak oil in the engine, the gas smokes, so it makes white smoke
