I have a 207 FLHTP- I see three or four different SE SLIP ons for the touring models- Which one is more free flowing? or are they all the same? Is there one that is louder & or has removable baffles??

Do some research here. SE slip ons are pretty much a waste of money. Go Rush if your are only doing slip ons

It depends on what you are looking for in the sound, the SE's are just a few decibles louder than stock. That is why most say they are a waste of money. In all honesty there is no reason asking the opinion of pipes, seat or whatever. It comes down to what you like!! I am looking for pipes now, I am just tring to listen to bikes as I ride around to see what may suit me. You will get 10,000 opinions, just buy what is right for you. Louder is not always better!! Sometimes loud is annoying!!
Good luck

+1 for Louder is not always better.
Last year, I put a set of Samson Rolled Thunders on my RK. Really dug 'em for a while - and they're still nice. Now though, when I start 'er up, it sounds super bad-a$$, but after a few hours rolling down the interstate, they kinda get on my nerves.

I like mine. They’re quiet but as the RPM rises, so does the sound. They’re obviously not as loud as headers but they work for me.

Whatever type of slip-ons you do decide to buy be sure to install new clamps so you won’t be fixing it properly later. Don’t ask me how I know this.

Do yourself a favor.   Look at the SuperTrapp SE Touring slipons.
Great subtle sound and they are proven to provide MORE HP AND MORE TORQUE than the other slipons on the market. I can't find the link to the test that compared slipons.  Great muffler and you can put many different end caps on if you want.
They are actually more like the older Screamin' Eagle touring mufflers prior to the EPA arm twisting.

I am very happy with my SE slip-ons.  I got them from a buddy who went to true-duals on his '06 Ultra.  He got them out of the H-D Race Only Catalog.  They are a lot louder and deeper than stock, but not unpleasant, even after riding all day.

I put the Screaming Eagle "race only" (discontinued) slip-ons on my 07 RKC and am very happy with them.  Nice rumble but not annoying.  If my memory serves me right the part number was 64903-99.  Highly recommend.

I've got the new SE slip-ons that have the changeable tips, and like them.  They're a bit louder than stock, but do get louder when you roll on the throttle.  They are not as loud as the older SEs.

I'm very happy with mine. 3db louder and deeper sound. More hp too.

If you like your pipes really loud, these are not for you.

Pipe sound is very subjective.  I started with Rush which (IMO) sounded "tinny" and cheap. Switched to V&H oval which sounded much better but a little too loud for what I was looking for.  When with the SE slip-on and to me, they are perfect sound.  Nice deep rumble but not too loud.

Go to a biker bar or dealer on the weekend and listen to a few bikes as they roll in.  If you like the sound of their pipes, just ask them what they have.

I went with the 50 State SE Touring Slip Ons. Just perfect just loud enough and EPA legal.

The way things are going loud is not necessarily better. Just read some of the lastes posts

I love my '08 SE two-piece slip-ons. They're definitely louder than stock, but not too loud and they have a nice, deep tone.

I have a set of older SE race slip on's with fulsac duals.  Love the deep low rumble and they have a good bark when you twist the throttle. But as others have said you need to go to an event or bar and listen to all the pipes you can, that way you have an educated choice and it will end up saving you money in the end. Good luck with your search brother.

Surprise-surprise!

Is it any wonder why there are so many people satisfied (including me) with the SE slip-ons? After all, they were designed by HD to work perfectly on HD bikes. I found that they need a few thousand miles to fully mellow out to a deep, rich, sound. Not tinny like Rush and Reinhart.

I have the older SE(race) on my bike and couldn't be happier, the sound is great, really talks to you when you roll on the throttle.

I had the old style se race mufflers they have the best sound for my ears but they were too loud for me. They were great around town but on the open road for a trip they were just too loud. I now have the new SE's 64895-07A's. Perfect noise ratio for me. I have to agree the older race Se's sound the best.

I had the old SE's on my '05 Road King, and they were twice (or so it seemed) as loud as the new SE slip-ons.
They definitely were too loud over a long trip.

The old SE II's were pretty loud. Here's the rundown on the new ones:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/browse/browse_products.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302519159&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448767801&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309065646&bmUID=1210935551881&bmLocale=en_US

I used 80677-08

After going through Rush's 1.75's and 1.5 baffles (too loud) and the original SE SE's (64895-07 too quiet), I tried the new SE 64895-07A. They are perfect for me. Quite a bit louder than the original SE 64895-07 they replaced. Sound Great to me.

But there seems to be a couple of the new SE slip-ons...you've got the two-piece, where you buy the ends of your desire seperately (for more $$), or you've got the one-piece slip-ons at either slant down or slant out configuration.

My question is are these two different sets of slip-ons (2-piece and 1-piece) the same internally?  Only the 07A 2-piece have the "We've re-tuned these mufflers..." description.  No one has commented on satisfaction with the one-piece muffs, which would be my choice and cheaper.

Thanks.

kry226,

You're right, mine are the two piece. Can't comment on the one piece although when I bought the first set of SE 2 piece slip-ons the dealer told me that the 1 piece were louder. Don't know how that compares to the new 2 piece ones.

I have what I believe are the discontinued race SE slipons and at first, I thought they were too quiet.  But that was coming from a DynaGlide Custom with V&H ShortShots.  That bike was just loud and the way the pipes stop right at my head made them seem even louder when on the bike.

Now I realize the old SE slipons I have on the Road King are just perfect.  Not quiet and wimpy, but certainly not obnoxiously (is that a word?) loud.  Just right.

I have the Screaming Eagle - 64903-99 "race only" (discontinued) slip-ons on my 06 Road King and I too am very happy with them.   I have had many people ask me about my pipes.   They were discontinued in 06 are becoming very hard to find.  In fact, my dealer states they are not allowed to sell them anymore even if he had them in stock..... Sound great without being annoying.

Dogmann, I run a 2003 Ultra with 95 inch stage two kit, PC111r and Sampson True Duals with one piece SE slip ons. They sound very good to me. Buy the slip ons and I will include the bike! Good luck! I say listen to all of them at a local bike night and talk to the owners. You will have your answer.

Just put on the new two-piece SE slip-ons (64895-7A) onto my '08 Ultra ... previously had drilled out the catalyst material on the stock pipes trying to get the deeper and more mellow tone without going ear shattering loud but that didn't produce the right sound!  So, ordered the new Street Performance SE pipes from Zanottis and WOW am I ever impressed with the sound!  Nice deep rumble, good bark under throttle, comfortable rumble at cruise speed, no decel popping, great looking 4" diameter pipes, and just the right decibel level for me - especially to tour with!  I do have the 110" motor, so likely they are a bit louder than on a 96" or 88" ... but nevertheless, after struggling to find the right sound on my previous scoots and never being satisfied I finally succeeded on this one!
