Hi all,

I would love to tap into the vast knowledge out there for a problem that has bothered me for about a month.

I’m running an 06 FLHTCUI, Reinhart true duals, ThunderMax, S.E. intake. Only thing on the stock map is a sloping AFR from idle to 27 degrees (13.8 – 13.00).

After about an hour of steady riding, 60 – 70 mph the engine begins to sound a little throaty instead of the nice roar that is typical with this setup. I find I need to open the throttle a little more, and power seems less available.

The air temp gauge reads about 80. Ambient today when this happened was 50.

This condition seems only to happen after riding for about 45 min - hour.

Any ideas????

Thank you!

Sounds like you may have a spark plug breaking down after it gets hot.  Plugs are cheap to replace.

What # map are you running and what rpm does this happen at.  You could be running lean in that rpm range.

The map is
HBTSSGVCXE010307

The RPM's are around 27 - 2800. At least, that's where it starts and after it starts will stay with me until I get back on after work.

Sure sounds like a bad plug or plug wire since it doesn't do it until you've ridden a while and the motor gets hot.   If new plugs don't correct the problem then I would check the fuel pump pressure. If it is not maintaining enough pressure after it runs for a while it could cause a similar condition.

I'll try the new plugs - thanks.

I hope it's not the pump. I only have 14k on this puppy and it's JUST outside warranty.

Thanks for the reply.
