Hi anyone tried the spectro oil for the new six speed tranny? I have a new bike and want to do my first oil change. I know from reading this forum that I want to put Mobil 1 in the crank and HD's formula+ in the primary but the tranny still cant decide if I want the shockproof or the spectro. ??????? [8D]
I know opinions are like noses, everyone has one. I use Mobil 1 in engine AND Primary. Redline in transmission. I change at 5k on engine and primary and 10k on transmission. Probably could run longer on transmission, but the time factor runs out. Almost 1 year is long enough,so it's easy to keep track of, I change it then. Dan
I dunno and I'm no harley whiz. but I just this morning changed my 08 el. gld. tranny oil to lucas 75-90 syn. with 2 oz. of the lucas syn. additive. and what a differance. I had a whine around 55or60 in 5th. thats gone it also shifts better and it will go right into neutral now. I'm going to use it from now on ,I am impressed.
Good to see you are going to synthetic,
I run Amsoil MCV-20-50 in the motor and primary. Run the SVO 75-140 in the transmission. It will keep the noise down.
You can use what ever kind of synthetic oil you want. I would go with heavier oil in the tranny oh !
The Sprctor Platium is some great stuff I switched from REDLINE shock proof heavy to it.
Nothing wrong with redline just Spectro is better for 6 speed.
Spectro is hard to find I ask my local HD dealer to stock it and thet did.
But what ever brand you use it is a good idea to get a 100% sny gear lube in there.
I ran the Golden Spectro for 5k, it was good, but I have moved back to the Redline Shockproof. I definitely like it better in my 5 speed tranny...may be that the Spectro is better in the 6 speeds. Either one is going to do fine though.
