I hit 230° twice last summer in S. LA (100° max) in traffic using another brand of synthetic oil--while 205° was the norm. There are many factors affecting oil temp, including riding style, environment, speed, and A/F ratio. If oil was the only factor in oil temp, my oil would be superior to Amsoil, but that is not the only variable.

I just got back from a trip from San Diego. Coming back up from So Cal to Northern Utah, it hit 109 in Baker. When I stopped to refill on Gatorade I checked my oil temp dipstick readout. I have an oil cooler installed on my 07 Road King and the oil temp was 247. I run Redline 20-50. I felt that 247 might be kind of high, but pushing across the desert at 75 in the middle of the afternoon I think it is probablynormal. The Redline performed well. The oil cooler probably kept it under 260.
